My bf was treated great in the first days and had an amputation and a lung procedure but as soon as they were done he was moved to a different floor and was treated like in the worst of ways he did not want to go to a nursing home to recover because he didn't want to seperate from me and the doctor on that floor (9th. Floor) was horrible he kept insisting him on the nursing home and said he was not comfortable discharging him and the day he was discharged we were left to figure out ourselves how to get gim into the car and 2 times he fell onto the floor when we tried to get in the car and the hospital staff just stood there it was so awful he had just got his leg amputated and because he didn't want to go to a nursing home he was treated like a piece of crap. Also we had to pay daily parking. Over 17 dollars every day. He was there a month I regret taking him to that hospital the level of disrespect from the doctors and nurses is outrageous. I don't know how much damage he was caused after falling trying to get into our car but as soon as we know we will make sure they pay and hold them responsible because aside from them trying to scare him into going to a nursing home and not helping him into the car right by the main entrance. A passerby was kind enough to help carry him into the car.

Recently had a CT scan in the radiology department. Service was perfect from checking in, getting an IV and being scanned. Staff is very professional. Entire process was less than an hour. No after affects. Received the results on the "My Scripps" within two hours!

Native San Diegan (64 years). My body's been beaten up over the years doing action sports and career in a dangerous field. I've been hospitalized over 25 times due to accidents and various illnesses, and have been in every hospital south of hwy 56. Had UCSD operate on my back which disabled me for years. I have NEVER had such EXCELLENT healthcare provided by the staff at UCSD- BAR NONE. I never had to wait long for any request, the nurses and aids were attentive, competent, and very professional. Everyone from my surgeon to the maintenance personnel were top-notch superb. (No, I don't have any affiliation with UCSD other than patient!). Food for a hospital was surprisingly good with many options. I honestly cannot say enough positive comments to do justice to this institution. My back operation exceeded my expectations. It sounds sick, but I almost wanted to stay here because I was taken care of so well! Strongly recommend. The only complaint I have is that these quality professionals deserve a newer facility - this one is old and showing signs of wear and tear. If someone didn't like the care here, I dare them to go elsewhere and they'll appreciate UCSD in retrospect and maybe they can help them with their pathetic whining issues.Much love to the staff! S. We spent the last 21 days after my husband met with a very bad accident and were admitted to Trauma and then Orthopedics for multiple surgeries . We were humbled and grateful for how excellent the hospital was in practically every respect . A) Highly competent doctors with great bedside manners and care B) highly competent nurses with care and empathy and attentive C) good attention to nutrition D) attention to detail on blood clots , BP, the simple things that make all the difference to have an experience that was consistently 10 on 10 for 21 days of care shows how well the hospital is run . I think it’s a world class hospital and one for the world to emulate . Thank you for everything . Special call out to Dr Dwight , Dr Ortaz, Dr Haldeman, Dr Kent . Grateful as you changed our lives .

I was recently in a bicycle accident during the Bike the Bay event this last August. I've never been hospitalized before so this was a new experience. UCSD Hillcrest has set the bar pretty high. The nurses, doctors, technicians and staff were all excellent. They were all very good at their jobs, but most of all compasionate and caring. I will even say the food was pretty good.
