We absolutely love participating in the Doggy Day Out program at this animal shelter. It has become such a meaningful and rewarding experience for both of us. Every time we go, Peyton is there to guide us through which animals need a little extra love and attention. She is always so friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to helping the dogs find the care they deserve. The dogs we get to spend time with are always wonderful. They are all so sweet, so loving, and completely adorable. It’s honestly hard not to want to take every single one of them home! 🥰 Each outing reminds us how special these animals are and how much they benefit from even a few hours of attention, exercise, and affection. The entire staff is consistently helpful, kind, and welcoming. You can truly feel how much they care about the animals and the community. We are so grateful to be able to help in this small way and can’t recommend the program enough to anyone looking to make a difference. It’s an experience that fills your heart every single time.

We took this boy Junebug out for a doggy daycation and a few days later they called just to let us know he would be getting euthanized due to lack of space at the shelter. like damn why yall tryna guilt trip us because we volunteered to take the dog out? and they said he was a stray they brought in january with a clean record. yall might as well had let him thrive in the streets than take him in just to euthanize him after having him for only a month. let people take a dog out for attachment then threaten to off them so you adopt ??! crazy method. but rip junebug

What a fun night just petting these beautiful dogs and helping to calm them during the Fireworks. The staff were extremely nice, great volunteers and we even found a stray German shepherd on our way to our car in the adjacent gas station. I had a pizza slice to entice him and we used the dog leash they have given us to bring him in.

I had an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience at this location. On November 25, I went to foster three kittens. Three days later, I returned to the shelter after learning I would be traveling for work and could no longer care for them. Before coming in, I contacted the Dallas Animal Shelter, and customer service clearly informed me that I could bring the kittens back directly. When I arrived, I was made to wait four hours. The entire time, the staff member at the front desk who was responsible for checking people in was unprofessional and showed little compassion. At one point, a woman came in saying she had found a kitten in the middle of the freeway and did not know what to do. Instead of offering guidance or empathy, the clerk told her she would have to wait, and if the cat wasn’t a young kitten, they might not take it. When the woman explained she couldn’t wait three hours, the clerk coldly told her to “drop off the cat somewhere” if she couldn’t stay. It was heartbreaking to witness. The lack of empathy and professionalism toward both the public and the animals was unacceptable. No one seeking help for innocent animals should be treated this way.

Gizmo was skinny, missing hair from flea allergy, matted hair, and had a strong smell of pee when I picked him up. He was neglected and kept outside by his previous family. For potential adopters, please don’t adopt if you’re just gonna just keep the dog outside. Gizmo has really been the most well behaved dog. Don’t overlook the older or ugly looking ones in the shelter.
