Appointments with Andrea at the Portland Clinic Northeast location have been very helpful and she is very well informed and communicates with a lot of sensitivity to the needs for the physical therapy & questions that come up. She seems to go the extra mile to make sure everything is covered in her answers and in the details of the exercises that she recommends for the best results.

I have been a patient here for about 2 years, and in the past 6 months, the administration/operations have gotten so terrible that I’m moving to a new PCP. There are delays through every step of the medical process. Scheduling an appointment feels nearly impossible, as 9 times out of 10 that I call the scheduling line, it claims the staff have too many calls and asks me to call another time. Then it hangs up. No option to wait on hold until there’s availability. Once I get through to the scheduler, the next appointments are frustratingly far away - often 6-8 weeks just for a blood draw appointment and 6-8 months to see my PCP. Staff take 5-10 business days to reply to messages. I’ve run out of doses of prescription medications several times because of this. The providers, once I’m able to get an appointment with them, are amazing. Zero complaints. Anyways, I’m switching to a new health system. Godspeed to the staff here.

I have been a patient at The Portland Clinic for a number of years. Last year my employer switched insurance providers to Kaiser, which required me to move my entire care team. We are no longer on Kaiser, and I planned to return to The Portland Clinic at the location closest to my home. When I attempted to re-establish care, the only available female physician at that location was booked out 5–6 months. Despite the long wait, I scheduled the appointment because I was familiar with the clinic and the location was convenient. After waiting five months, I received a call canceling my appointment just four hours before I was supposed to be seen. No effort was made to help me reschedule. There were no appointments available online, and when I called, I was told the physician’s next available appointment was in 2027. The only other doctor at that location is booked out until December. I explained that this was urgent because I need a prescription refill for my inhaler. No accommodation, interim solution, or escalation was offered. I was also told that this physician “has specific criteria” for new patients and can only see one new patient per day. I had already waited five months for that exact new-patient slot, only to have it canceled at the last minute with no support to rebook or receive care elsewhere within the clinic. Canceling a long-scheduled appointment with four hours’ notice—then offering no viable alternative, despite an urgent medication need—is extremely irresponsible and reflects very poor clinic management and patient care practices. I’m incredibly disappointed.

I made an appointment over a month ago and then the day of, the doctor canceled. The clinic called me and we rescheduled for the following week. Again, the day of, just a few hours before my appointment, the doctor canceled. I missed two days of work. Two days wages in Portland in a tanked economy and these grown adults have the audacity to ask me to take another chance on their lack of accountability or responsibility and reschedule AGAIN. These people who would also have the gall to charge me a late fee if I were to cancel at the last minute. I would be fired if I called out last minute as many times. This is repulsive, disrespectful, irresponsible, minimum wage behavior that is completely unacceptable for a doctor or clinic. I changed PCP’s immediately after I got off the phone. Portland Clinic, you owe me for two days lost wages and a big fat apology. I’ll be happy enough though if this post is enough to earn people away from your abysmal care services. You’re far too comfortable compromising my time, my money, and most importantly, my health. You don’t deserve to stay in business and I look forward to your inevitable failure and closure.

I had been with Portland clinic my whole life, and recently scheduled a a yearly checkup with blood work. This is the ONE thing my insurance covers. They instead booked/billed it as a “First time visit”, despite me being a patient with them my entire life. I was not made aware of this beforehand, nor of it not being covered AT ALL as a result. When I asked them to please correct this because, again, preventative care is the one thing I get for free, they changed the billing code to that of a “care for Gilbert syndrome” appointment. This was just completely absurd. Gilbert syndrome is a benign liver condition I have that DOES NOT AFFECT MY LIFE IN ANY WAY NOR REQUIRE TREATMENT, EVER. So they’re still insisting I need to pay 500+ dollars for sitting in a room for 5 minutes while a doctor takes my weight, asks me a few questions, and orders some standard blood tests. I made it very clear at every step, I was a returning in-network patient coming for a yearly checkup, specifically because it is the ONE THING COVERED. They then changed it back to the “First time visit”. The care I received was exactly what you’d expect out of a yearly checkup, and if it was really was a “first time visit” like they said, they never actually scheduled me for a follow up to do the actual “yearly checkup” so I don’t know why the they still insist on billing it this way. Well, I guess other than to try and get me to pay the 500+ dollars for preventative care (which in 2025 should be free for every American) ((ESPECIALLY IF IT IS THE ONE THING YOU GET FREE WITH YOUR INSURANCE)). It feels so scummy and gross at this point, especially with how essential preventative care is and how many people still struggle to access it… I really don’t understand. Why add a $500+ barrier to the most basic preventative care? Why bill my appointment as ANYTHING BUT the basic preventative care that it was? So much of my time has been wasted just trying to get this, the ONE thing my crappy insurance covers, covered. Regarding this mysterious “new patient appointment”, it was explained to me (afterwards) as being a separate, required appointment before receiving my covered, free preventative care , but if that’s the case how come they were able to change it to a $550 appointment for GILBERT SYNDROME? And how come there was no follow up even mentioned, let alone scheduled? This was my first time getting majorly screwed over getting healthcare, and here I was thinking my first time would be insurance not wanting to pay or something. Props to Portland Clinic for surprising me. I will never book an appointment with them ever again, and my entire perspective on the Portland Clinic and healthcare in America has been spoiled. At least I can rest easy knowing I apparently received medical care for my Gilbert syndrome. Genuinely, what the hell?
