I saw Dr. Casey several years ago as my PCP for heart concerns. It was an overall great visit back then. At present, I now believe I'll need to find somewhere else. My new insurance for 2026 requires a referral in order to see my pre-existing specialist. On 2/7 I scheduled an appointment online to be seen on 2/25 for the referral as well as an issue with my hand I've dealt with almost a month. I called back 2/24 to add a knee issue that came up over the past few days. I get a voicemail this morning saying that my appointment had to be cancelled because the insurance they have on file can't be verified and they noted a policy I haven't had in years. I already updated ALL of my info (demographics, meds, insurance, etc) in the patient portal at the time of scheduling the appointment on 2/7 (had to download an app and everything to do this). I called back and spoke to someone different than who left the VM. She told me they only have the old policy on file. I told her I already provided all of my updated information across the board including my current insurance. I also said the appointment needs to stay as is because it's not my fault that there's an apparent disconnect with their system but I don't just have a bunch of free time to just schedule whenever, hence why I did it weeks in advance. It doesn't make sense to cancel an appointment without first verifying if the patient actually has insurance first. I could understand if I called back saying sorry I don't have anything, but I literally had it AND provided this well in advance. I provided my current insurance over the phone and she was able to verify, yet still said the appointment would have to be rescheduled. I told her don't worry about it and I'll have to figure something else out. That's a bogus policy and honestly made me feel like they do things this way because it makes one less patient to worry about. I've worked in healthcare over 10 yrs and it saddens me how certain facilities are choosing to handle things. It's less patient care oriented and more business/financial oriented. I hope Dr. Casey is still as good as when I last saw him, but unfortunately I can't trust this office if they don't value my time and can be so quick to basically dismiss me for something that was in no way my fault.

I had an appointment that was supposed to start at 1:15. We arrived at 1 PM. After an hour of waiting we were called back to the rooms at the same time as another patient. We watched as another patient was weighed and put into a room before I was weighed and put into a room. It was not until 3 PM that the doctor walked into the room. The doctor did not knock, but instead swung the door wide open and stated “Knock, Knock” after fully entering the room. The doctor barely made eye contact with us, said I still needed to loose weight, then sent me to get rescheduled. We were shuffled to the person to reschedule us for my next appointment by 3:03 PM. This means that the doctor spent less than 3 minutes in the room with me. This was absolutely appalling.

If you’re looking for a PCP that is ran like a DMV. This is your best option. The provider only since 2 mins in the room with me. My dogs vet since more time examining her than this doctor. I work hard to afford health insurance I deserved a thorough uninterrupted visit. Dr Carson had no eye contact just, simply in a hurry. Even during my exam a nurse interrupted stating “your family is here” I guess the provider was expecting his family to arrive for an outing. As the pt I felt unseen and unheard. I will never return.

Seale Harris Clinic doesn’t return voicemails or get back to you with results. I waited for over a week. Then they respond via text message to tell you your labs are good come back in a year. When they finally get posted to their online app and you can view them you find out that your labs are not okay. Nothing but the runaround at this clinic. I had to leave another voicemail and I probably won’t get a call back either. Beware of this clinic. Always advocate for yourself. I’m glad I finally was able to review my labs since they are probably looking at the wrong patient.

Seale Harris Clinic in Birmingham is the kind of medical office that manages to blend professionalism with a bit of Southern warmth. From the moment you walk in, the staff greets you like you’re more than just the next appointment on the list. The waiting area is clean and organized—no weird smells, no blaring TV commercials, just a calm space that makes you feel like you’re in good hands.
