Saint Francis Hospital

My husband suffered extreme pain and neglect due to a lack of sufficient staff and the lack of communication between specialists. This hospital needs to be re-vamped or shut down. We finally brought him home to die in peace and dignity.

Very disappointing experience with the orthopedic department at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford. My husband’s surgery was scheduled and then rescheduled, and he was instructed to arrive very early in the morning, but the hospital was not administratively prepared when he arrived. No one informed us beforehand that he would need to stay overnight, so he was not told to bring any personal care items. Because of this, I had to drive late at night in terrible weather conditions just to bring him basic essentials. It also took an excessive amount of time for a bed to become available, and visitors were not allowed because of the delay. The lack of communication and organization made an already stressful medical situation much worse.

Valet parking at the entry door. Waiting room was a bit long at check - in. The nurses were all incredible. From my get- ready room to recovery to post- op room. Suzan , Beth, Kim made me very comfortable. My best ever experience with St Francis hospital! Thank y'all so much for taking such good care of me. C.k.carey

I was told by my cardiologist to get to ER immediately because I needed to be admitted. I got to ER and waited 7 hours on steel chairs and not monitor at all. Beyond upset to get a call like that saying they were call ahead that I was on my way. I have a cardiac monitor and my heart had stop beating for 6 seconds. To just get an urgency call like that and sat there watching other patients taken before me a cardiac patient. Once I got in I was put outside in the hallway across from a bathroom that STUNk to high Heaven . Everyone uses that bathroom patients, staff, visitors, police ambulance driver -everyone! Even the doctors disgusting smells and my husband bearly had a chair to sit on. I was healing a fractured hip and to be on a stretcher and no pillow hard to endure. My doctor had to speak to us in front of everyone to tell me upsetting news that I need a pacemaker. The poor staff had stretchers all lined up in the hallway with no help!! I was held 24 hours there my husband went even over to admitting to see about a room he was told that the doctors get the rooms -seriously!!! Give me a break being a retired employee I knew better people don’t even know who does what. The staff on 10-9 were fantastic but short hand Bad enough I couldn’t get in but once admitted you can’t out no wheelchairs any where then no transport. No wonder SFH in newspapers all the time-hope beloved SFH we us old times worked so hard to have high standards and always had them-at one time SFH was the hospital was the 1 to go to hope you get there act together again My deepest thanks to Dr.Lippman, anesthesia and staff on 10-9 for the great care SFH should recognize you for your care and compassion!! Never thought I'd be posting negative review to Trnity Health/St Francis website but this needed to be shared. June 2025 I'm in ER for abdominal pain.. A male nurse placed IV for CT scan with contrast. I always close my eyes when it comes to needles. When I opened my eyes nurse was leaving the room I felt something wet/warm on my sleeve. There was blood all over my white jeans, silk shirt, and on the bedsheets. Looked like a horror movie scene. The nurse never said a word about blood being on me. I was livid, complained to charge nurse. Three weeks later I get a bill for $1400 my portion after insurance paid! Long story short Grievance Dept offered $15 gift card to Panera Bread for my troubles with no bill adjustment! My cleaning bill cost more than the gc! Never have I experienced blood being drawn and somehow blood splattered all over me. It's a good thing I videotaped being in the ER room showing my bloody clothes, the bloody bed sheets which was not changed by the initial nurse. There was documentation from charge nurse when I complained. After the gift card, I got another bill. Second time I spoke with billing dept, shared my video via email and share previous email communication with Mary Lou in Grievance. As of today the balance is $0. I was ready to go to small claims if this wasn't rectified. St Francis Hospital is not the hospital it used to be in the early 2000. Staff has definitely gone downhill. If you go on tiktok you'll find all types of wrongdoings pertaining to Trinity Health. They need to do better.
