I’ve been a One Medical member since September 2016, and I want to be very clear: this experience represents a SHARP decline from what the service used to be. I recently scheduled an annual physical and was later hit with an unexpected ($400+) bill because my insurance applies a rolling 365-day rule for preventive exams. That alone would have been frustrating but understandable. What made this unacceptable was how One Medical handled it afterward. I was given conflicting explanations about whether eligibility for annual physicals is verified. One leader told me One Medical does check eligibility for many plans and that mine was an edge case. Billing later told me they do not verify eligibility at all and that it is entirely the patient’s responsibility. Those statements directly contradict each other. In a membership-based care model that explicitly markets coordination and prevention, this is a serious failure. The tone from billing was dismissive and rigid. Responsibility was shifted entirely onto me. Responses were slow. There was no ownership of the confusion they created, no acknowledgment that their own process failed, and no attempt to close the loop with anything resembling goodwill. The message was essentially “policy is policy,” which completely undermines the point of paying a membership fee in the first place. What’s most disappointing is that this was never my experience before. I had years of consistently good care with One Medical, including at their Phoenix office, where I never once encountered this level of rigidity, poor communication, or lack of accountability. This issue has been specific to the San Diego location. Since Amazon took over ownership, the service has become noticeably more restrictive and transactional. The quality of care and the member experience have steadily declined. What used to feel patient-centered now feels like a corporate operation hiding behind scripts and policies when something goes wrong. I paid the bill, but the trust is gone. For longtime members who joined One Medical for proactive care and transparency, this is not the experience you signed up for.

This was absolutely one of the worst doctor experiences I’ve ever had. My doctor did not seem to care whatsoever about my wellbeing or concerns. I felt like it was the McDonalds drive-thru of doctors. She denied me from getting bloodwork done that I needed after not seeing a doctor for years. Also, had very little consideration of the little time I let her know I had because of my job at sea. She didn’t seem to care. I will be changing doctors and hope my next one actually cares about my health and is more helpful. Not sure why someone would join the healthcare field without wanting to help her patients. I think at the end of the day it comes down to having a good attitude, a helping attitude. And when we trust doctors to be there for us when we need them, we expect them to show up for us.

Check in, waiting room time, experience w my doctor Dr Sarah Venditti was outstanding. Everyone made me feel very comfortable and greatly cared for upon my initial visit. We are new to the area and happy to have found primary care so easily. Thanks again!

I’ve been coming to One Medical for several years in Washington and California. I have seen Dr. David Eisner for my last three wellness exams at this location. He is knowledgeable, patient, listens, and makes you feel welcome. I warmly recommend him to everyone looking for a doctor. Nurses and staff have all always been nice and professional. Front desk also validates parking so it’s free when you visit. For One Medical in general, I love how fast and convenient everything is from scheduling, to receiving lab results within days, and having all your medical information in one place.

My appointment at One Medical San Diego was on time and lasted 30 minutes. My Physician was excellent and all my prescriptions were filled with no problem at Amazon Pharmacy. The final cost was very reasonable and less than my previous medical provider. I am self-pay and I do recommend One Medical especially if you are self-pay.
