Melissa took my deposit and never did the work. She is a fraud. Ms. Mallory claimed that she needed two-thirds and not the customary one-third since her workers planned to complete minor repairs to a leaking indoor skylight. The deposit went through my checking account to a Randy Branagan. I looked up Ms. Mallory on Been Verified and there is an association between the two. Ms. Mallory has judgments against her and she may have taken my money to avoid eviction. Ms. Mallory never had the intention of doing the work and took advantage of an elderly woman with health problems.

Things started out great with this 'company', then soured spectacularly. We used them in 2024-25. There are issues surrounding work quality, timeliness and professionalism. Lots of excuses as to why things weren't done: she's moving (heard this at least 2x), son has court date she didn't know about, she had a falling out w/ her main worker, Jose, and fired him, then a few weeks later, he's suddenly back. Even her employees know that she doesn't run her business well based on comments they made to me when she wasn't here (she was rarely ever on-site to supervise work). It was difficult to communicate w/ workers bc they don't speak good English, which isn't a problem in and of itself, if she had been here, but she wasn't. We really shouldn't have had to deal w/ them at all. We hired them to do an extensive amount of work and we're having to hire other people to fix what they screwed up because Melissa stopped replying/responding to my requests to finish/fix problem areas. In good faith and as a favor she requested of me, I paid an installment off-schedule (eg, prior to completing the work) in order for her to meet the week's payroll and they never showed back up. When I was able to reach her again, they came back to 'finish' but what they really came back for was to pick up the supplies/tools that they had left all over the place in my house for weeks and skulked out w/out actually doing anything. Before we were aware that this company is bad, we even referred them to friends who they also screwed over. Just avoid MJ Home Services at all costs.

I worked with this company years ago for basement services and had a very good experience, however, I paid 2/3 of the cost of my front porch remodel in February and it is now April and this is what my porch looks like. The owner will not respond to my calls or text messages and when she did respond two weeks ago made a promise to have the work done that week then never returned. She has left me with no steps to safely enter my home for over six weeks now. I have never in my life written a poor review for anything but I would not wish this experience on anyone and hope to deter others.

I've had the pleasure of working with them twice and I've been impressed both times with their willingness to get the job done correctly and for a price that is always better than the big companies and national brands. Melissa always finds a way to work around my schedule is invested in following up to make sure i continue to see the results they promised. Highly recommend.

Melissa and her crew are the most responsive and down to earth tradespeople you're ever going to find. Very reasonably priced, very knowledgable, and prompt/open with communication. When our basement flooded a month before our baby was due, she was out next day to assess the damages. She made sure our house was safe for my wife, that we won our claim, was a text away every step of the way, and had the basement back together better than ever in under two weeks.
