I had a wonderful experience completing my Addiction Medicine elective with Dr. Caro and Nurse Practitioner Laiza. The environment was warm, respectful, and very student friendly. Both providers were approachable and took time to explain their clinical reasoning, share teaching points, and involve me in meaningful aspects of patient care. As a student, I was able to write notes, participate in patient assessments, and assist with treatment planning under their guidance. The rotation helped me strengthen my clinical judgment, communication skills, and overall confidence in an outpatient setting. It was a truly supportive and engaging learning experience that I would recommend to any student looking for a welcoming and educational environment.
