Kings Heath Pet Centre

I rescued my boy Rex from this pet shop , Rex is a mini Rex. I brought rex home at the beginning of January last year, little did we know that this pet shop actually let me take him home knowing that he had medical issues. He has had endless counts of GI statsis, from the moment we brought him home. The vet even confirmed it was nothing that we did, I'm extremely experienced with rabbits. Some blood tests later our vet told us that he has E.C which is a parasite that is deadly for buns. Not only that but he has had this since birth , which means the breeders this pet shop has been using were breeding rabbits that were not fit for sale. This now leads me to believe that regular health checks and vet visits were non existent. Thankfully my boy Rex is now extremely taken care of , from the moment he entered our home he fit right in. I love him dearly. I'm just angry that he has suffered and the pet shop are saying they didn't notice anything wrong. If you know anything about rabbits , then you'll know when something is wrong almost immediately. I don't think this pet shop should be allowed to sell any animals. I made contact with kings heath pet centre about Rex's E.C infection on the 5th of December 2025 which I have proof of , the member of staff had asked me what breed and what date I made payment for Rex. I gave all relevant information to the member of staff who answered the phone. The response I got back was" we'll notify the breeders , thanks" We have come to find out that Rex has other issues that stems from how he was bred and the lack of care that he received. Including teeth and kidney issues. Numerous rabbit/ exotic vets have stated that this was from a result of inbred breeding and inappropriate health care as well as other factors.

Compared to other pet stores this one houses and treats it’s small animals light years better. There was huge aviaries for many birds which was beautiful to see as this often isn’t the case with pet stores. An improvement would be to extend this large enclosure to some of the other birds like the finches as they had slightly small enclosures but overall this pet store stands out to me as paving the way to ethical small animal care. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend over the other pet stores. Lots of variety in accessories for your loved pets too!

Lovely staff that are well knowledged and very helpful! They offer a very wide range of pets, toys and food. This is where I got my beautiful hand reared conure called Fanta ❤️. It's a one stop place for all our animals (cats, dog, gecko and now bird!) but they offer so much more. We would rather travel to this shop then go anywhere else! I can't recommend this place and it's staff enough!

My 17-year-old border collie Rex loves this place. We've been coming here for all our dog needs throughout the years we've been fortunate to have Rex, and it's always a pleasure to drop by. The staff has consistently been knowledgeable, helpful, and incredibly understanding, supportive, and caring, especially now that my boy is getting older and more fragile. I feel grateful to have such a wonderful pet shop right at our doorstep. Thank you to the entire team!

I really rate this pet shop. I have bought my finches here on 2 occasions. I came back recently for some advice and was helped by a lovely lady (I forgot her name) I bought some new additions for my aviary as I have the space (I intend to go higher so I can fit a real tree thats safe for birds) they all get along and having the best time in the sun and enjoying a bird bath.
