Second Hand Purrs

My wife and I have received two cats through the years from Second Hand Purrs. Emily, and Chester. The staff and volunteers have always been very friendly and supportive of what we were looking for, and what would be best for us, and just as importantly, what would be the best for the cat. Yes Second Hand Purrs has high standards for adopters, and for good reason. The cats deserve the best. Recently we took in a family of cats. It was exceedingly cold and we wanted to protect them from the elements. We contacted Second Hand Purrs because we knew of their care, concern, and knowledge of what to do. My wife and I nurtured the kittens for several months until they were ready for more care. Second Hand Purrs was able to support us in getting the kittens the medical care they needed and provide them with excellent foster care as well. We went to a place that we knew would give these cats their best life. Second Hand Purrs is very caring, conscientious, and knowledgeable about what is best for the cats. These cats are wonderful creatures and deserve to have their best lives and Second Hand Purrs is there to provide that for them. We are exceedingly pleased with Second Hand Purrs.

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and you can tell they're serious about making sure each cat goes to the right home. They take the time to match potential owners and forever homes because they want to ensure the cats don't suffer any more than they already have. They focus on the cats and that they have the best lives possible and not just move them out the door for sake of numbers. I like knowing the staff is being so diligent. The cats are loved and well cared for and more importantly given time to play and stretch their legs out of their cages when it's not visiting hours. The place is kept clean and it shows how hard the staff is working to keep it that way.

The staff is friendly and helpful. All very loving to the cats. The cats love to be played with, they need more love. Come give them some love and attention even if not adopting. I go there to give the cats the love they deserve before they get adopted. Come check them out. I recommend washing your hands between cats so they feel less contaminated from others.

I’d recommend this shelter! Walking in feels safe, calm and homey. The volunteers are helpful and knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and concerns. They take time to train anyone on certain aspects of cat health you may be unfamiliar with. They care deeply about each cat/kitten. You can tell they have a special place for the wellbeing of each one as if they were their own.

I have adopted 3 cats from this shelter and I am very satisfied. Before the cats come into the shelter they are put in foster care and are vet checked and immunized. Every cat has relevant information age, gender and personality. Once you find a cat you are interested in you spend time in a viewing room with them to see if they are a good fit for you. Once you find the right cat you fill out an application and after 5-7 days they let you know if you are approved. They do a background check, verify with your landlord if you rent that it's ok to have a pet and make sure your animals are update on immunizations with your vet.
