I am writing this review to detail a highly concerning and distressing experience following a grooming appointment for my dog, Peter Barker, a Golden Retriever, at Lucky & Lady in Atlanta. I dropped Peter off for his grooming service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 2nd. I was called to pick him up around 3:30 PM that afternoon. Upon arrival, I was immediately called to enter the grooming room, which is highly unusual. The staff explained that Peter was unable to stand and move to the door, which is completely out of character for him. Peter attends dog school once or twice a week and always walks to the door happily to greet me. When I entered the room, Peter was drooling and refused to stand up for me. I had to physically help him with his leash to make him walk to the car. I was extremely concerned about his unusual weakness and the drooling, which he never does. Later that night, Peter began horribly flatulating, which is very rare for him, even since he was a puppy. The situation escalated at 3:00 AM on Wednesday, December 3rd, when Peter woke me up with an urgent need to poop, which resulted in diarrhea. After sleeping for only one hour, he woke me up again with the same emergency and this time with bloody diarrhea. I immediately took him to The Village Vets for emergency treatment. During the grooming drop-off, I had specifically asked the Lucky & Lady staff if they gave dogs treats, and they said no. However, I went on to specifically request that no treats containing chicken be given to Peter due to a known allergy. The veterinarian's instructions from The vet, dated indicate that Peter was diagnosed with bloody diarrhea and later, on December 6th (following a required follow-up visit due to the condition lasting over three days), was diagnosed with Gastroenteritis. I truly believe that Peter was not only given a treat containing chicken, despite my explicit instruction and his known allergy, but that he was also given a treat containing a type of sedative. His inability to stand or walk to me, combined with the drooling the afternoon I picked him up, is highly suggestive of a reaction beyond a simple chicken allergy. His behavior was not normal. I am deeply disappointed and concerned by the experience. I do not recommend Lucky & Lady for grooming services and believe that a lack of supervision or adherence to critical owner instructions could potentially make this facility dangerous for pets, especially those with allergies or sensitivities. Pet owners rely on groomers to prioritize the safety and well-being of their animals, and in this case, a basic and critical instruction was apparently disregarded, leading to an emergency medical situation.

I was very disappointed with my experience at this business, especially after finding it on Google and expecting a clean, well-maintained facility. The young lady at the front desk was pleasant, which I appreciated, but unfortunately that was the only positive part of my visit. I came in for a self-wash, and although the business looked nice from the outside, the self-wash area itself was extremely unkempt. There was hair everywhere, the floor was soaked, and the tubs had not been cleaned between customers. At other self-wash facilities I’ve visited, staff routinely tidy the area between uses, so this was surprising. I also had to request a clean towel because there were none available—only used ones. Also, hearing a groomer loudly yelling at a dog in the grooming area was off putting. I understand that some dogs may be difficult to handle, but the tone and volume were completely unnecessary and unprofessional. I will not be bringing my dog back, and I hope management addresses both the cleanliness and the handling of animals. I’m giving 2 stars only because the front desk staff was ok and the dryer worked well. The pics don’t do justice but trust me, it wasn’t clean.

There’s no easy way to say this, but I do not believe this facility is safe for senior dogs. My dog walked into this facility on his own 4 legs - nearly 5 hours later when he was finally “ready,” he had to be carried out and taken immediately to an emergency vet hospital. I was told the lengthy time for his simple bath was due to his age and that he “wouldn’t stand for us.” In reality, the delay was because he became physically UNABLE to stand — something the groomer either didn’t recognize or failed to respond to appropriately. When I went to pick him up he was inexplicably nearly catatonic on the floor outside their crates in the back - and I received not a WHISPER of apology or concern. Quite the contrary - they actually had me pay and tip on my services before finally acknowledging that they couldn’t even bring him to me; I had to go back there and physically pick him up off the floor. Attached is the video I took in that moment. I spent hundreds of dollars on immediate emergency care, and while thankfully he survived, I truly thought I was going to lose him that night. I don’t know what exactly transpired there, but he was never the same afterward. The stress of this experience aged him significantly and to this day he remains altered. Lucky & Lady has robbed my sweet dog of months, if not years of his quality of life. What makes this even more upsetting is that just a few weeks later, a friend of mine had a nearly identical experience with her senior dog at this same location. I was told I would be contacted by corporate, but my call was never returned. When I initially reached out to understand what happened, I was stonewalled — and it took several days before anyone offered even a basic apology or showed concern. Their excuse was they didn’t know this wasn’t his norm - which, aside from the fact that I can’t imagine this seeming “normal,” a simple call or text to me could’ve easily clarified. I’m writing this review because I don’t want anyone else to go through what I went through. Whoever groomed my dog should not be working with senior animals. If you cannot tell the difference between an elderly dog and one in medical distress, this is the wrong line of work for you. Please think twice before bringing your senior pet here. I wish someone had warned me.

Lucky & Lady has by far been the absolute best grooming spa I've patronized since getting my girl groomed. The appts are easy to make online which doesn't require a deposit, they're open 7 days a week so there's flexibility with appt times if you're a busy momma like myself and they have several amazing groomers available to choose from. My absolute favorite is Bambii. I never have to worry about my Noni in her hands when it comes to her cuts and color. She's exceptionally talented and creative and ALWAYS has my girl looking top notch 👌🏽😍💕🐶🥰

Jasmine is THE BEST! We moved from Charleston a couple months ago, and have been struggling to find a groomer here in Atlanta that is able to make our fur baby look as handsome as we’d like… we’ve tried 3 groomers, but Lucky & Lady is by the the best in the area! For the job they do, the price of services in incredibly reasonable. It’s the same price as every other groomer we’ve tried and they did a wayyyy better job! I love how they have windows to the grooming center. You can see how much the staff cares about their clients. If you choose Lucky & Lady for your fur baby, BOOK WITH JASMINE! I don’t have enough amazing things to say about her and the job she did for my boy. Thank you Lucky & Lady!
