My entire experience from start to finish with island insurance was incredibly unpleasant and pretty infuriating. The agent I was assigned to was Nicole Gray. She must be their top employee if all they care about is avoiding communication and avoiding paying for ANYTHING. Thank goodness for Capri who did everything she could to help me several times. My car was hit on 12/5. I didn't get a call back from Island Insurance until 12/29, but not from Nicole herself. Island Insurance called the auto body shop but not me. My car didn't get into an auto body shop until 1/15. Island Insurance called Enterprise but not me. When I showed up to pick up a rental car at Enterprise, I was surprised to see Nicole put me in the tiniest car possible....I drive a pick up truck. The Enterprise agent was confused and upset FOR me and they confirmed that I should be put in a car comparable to the one I drive regularly. When I called Island Insurance I definitely knew better than to call Nicole directly (because it was a month later and still, 0 communication from her) so I called the main line and someone named Nicky picked up. Not sure if that is also Nicole Gray. Nicki didn't wait for me to speak but instead talked over me, ignored my concerns and rushed me off the phone. Enterprise took over the call and was able to advocate for me to get into a comparable car. Nicky was unhappy with being challenged and prioritized scolding, patronizing and reporting the agent over using that energy to help her clients. She spent more time scolding this poor girl than she did trying to help me LOL Nicole did send me an email of information I already knew from having to call everyone myself. She ended the email with the typical "if you have any questions". Well I did have questions, I sent an email back. My BABY was in her carseat during the accident. The company I bought the carseat from told me verbatim that my carseat needs to be replaced and it is no longer safe. I mentioned that in my email on 1/8. It is 2/20 and I still have not heard back from her. It is awesome to know that on top of the horrible experience and service from Island Insurance, they also don't care about the safety of babies.

Been with them for more then 10 years They just cancelled my insurance policy for no reason,and without any notice very disappointed and disgusted with them,do not insurance with island insurance, bad company very unprofessional shouldn’t be this way to customers and I was paying on my bills on times.

Absolute trash company. Canceling a policy is almost impossible, they illegally continued to charge my card after I canceled and are still giv8ng me the run around. Avoid them at all costs

As tenant that’s a Purple Heart recipient, disabled with a service dog and family, that has a landlord with this insurance company. Unit above me leaked water into my unit and the estimated time for repair is 30 days (which is probably bull but that’s what was said). Manager of the property told me that island insurance would not cover a place for me to live during the repairs. Told me to use my renters insurance, which doesn’t cover displacement or ALE. Under the Hawai‘i Residential Landlord-Tenant Code (HRS §521-42), your landlord still has to provide you with a habitable unit.If the unit is uninhabitable, the landlord must either: Fix the problem quickly and adjust your rent for the time you can’t reasonably use the space, or Provide comparable alternative housing (hotel, Airbnb, etc.). Even if no one was “at fault,” the landlord’s responsibility to maintain habitable housing doesn’t disappear. Landlord’s obligation is rent reduction (which should be the entire month) and/or alternate housing. Be careful with this company, there is still the legal obligation to house your tenants even if the insurance doesn’t cover it. Most renters insurance do not cover ALE.

Awful experience with this company. One of their clients totaled my car. Trying to get a hold of someone is a hassle and useless, the information they provide to go through the claim process is minimal and doesn’t complete the process. This is the absolute worst company I have dealt with and they need to do some serious internal investigations in regards to the services they provide
