I hired Edwards Plumbing & Heating in 2021 to replace my sewer line from my house to the sidewalk. I was invoiced and paid $9,800 for this work, with the understanding that the full run to the sidewalk had been replaced. Edwards Plumbing excavated to the sidewalk during the 2021 work and replaced the sidewalk afterward, which reinforced the understanding that the sewer line replacement extended to that point. In November 2025, a new blockage occurred. During excavation by a different contractor, it was discovered that Edwards Plumbing had stopped the replacement several feet short of the sidewalk, leaving a section of the original clay pipe in place. This required a second excavation, resulted in unnecessary municipal tree and canopy removal fees, and significantly increased the cost of the repair. Because the work was believed to extend to the sidewalk, excavation initially began in the wrong location, which caused avoidable damage and expense. Had the original work been completed as represented, these additional costs would not have been incurred. The images attached include one photograph showing the termination point of the PVC sewer line several feet short of the sidewalk, and one copy of the invoice describing the scope of work as extending to the sidewalk. I documented this issue with photographic and video evidence and made multiple good-faith attempts to resolve the matter privately, including a detailed written demand sent by email and certified mail. Edwards Plumbing & Heating did not respond. I am sharing my experience so other homeowners can make an informed decision and verify exactly what work is performed and where it ends.
