I had an absolutely wonderful experience with the Detroit Animal Care and Control Center. I found a dog on one of the freezing cold nights, and they stepped in with such compassion and professionalism. They made sure she received all of her shots and provided me with everything I needed to set me up for success in caring for her while we searched for her owner, with the possibility of adoption if needed. Officer Aaron, Officer Peebles, Rowena, and the entire staff were incredibly kind, gracious, and supportive throughout the process. You can truly tell they care deeply about the animals and the people trying to help them. I’m so grateful for their guidance and generosity. Detroit is lucky to have a team like this.

Flora (used to be Guardia) is now living her best life! DACC gave me the light of my life, she truly is the perfect dog. Everything was simple and easy when dealing with DACC and the staff was always friendly. If you’re someone reading reviews and come across some bad ones PLEASE don’t let that be a factor in choosing to adopt or not. Everywhere has problem people that leave a bad impression, technology that doesn’t work, or things out of immediate staff control. This isn’t about you or the humans that work here, it is about the dogs. Dogs that desperately need homes and crave love. Even if you don’t adopt from DACC, adopt from another shelter, they are all over!! I promise your soul dog is out there and waiting for you, and I can PROMISE you it’s one that’s at a shelter 💗

The GPS was crazy but once we got there the lady (sorry I forgot her name) was very helpful in unloading the donation we brought and gracious. The facility was Very clean. Seeing the outreach tables was wonderful. You don't have to be embarrassed by asking if you need help. Thank you to everyone there.

I found a stray dog walking down Grand River near Oakman Blvd. I was able to scoop it up with the help of another motorist. Luckily I had some clothes in the car I was able to wrap the little guy up he was soaking wet and shaking. No collar, no tag so. Off to Hurley Dog & Cat Hospital to see it there was a chip. No chip found. Off I went to Pet Supply Plus for food. He ate all the food and water. Now for the trek over to DAC and C. The staff was very helpful. There was paper work to complete. Not a long wait. A staffer came out and got the little guy from the car. I said my goodbyes, and hoped he gets united with his family. Now back to what I left the house for...to buy some gas.
