I used to love this place, though my past experience left me feeling completely ripped off/nickeled & dimed. Due to their policies and hours, I ended up paying $355 when all I needed was ONE night of boarding. I had a trip and was leaving 5am Saturday and returning Sunday morning, so I really only need one night (Saturday), boarding 2 of my dogs. However, they do not offer early morning drop offs, so I had to pay for Friday night ($140) on top of my needed Saturday night. That was not the worst/not being able to drop them off at 5am was understandable. However, what made me angry is I got charged $80 JUST TO PICK UP MY DOGS ON A SUNDAY??? $80 to put my dogs on leashes (slip leads- super easy that the owners own kids were able to do it) and bring them out to my car. They are not upfront with the extra pick up amount being charged - they did not bring my invoice out to me before holding out the card reader. I thought it was a lot, which is why I looked on their portal once I got home. I did call them before writing this review. All they told me is it was due to me picking up on a Sunday?! What boarding facility doesn’t allow you to pick up your own dogs without charging you??! Or what boarding facility isn’t open on a Sunday?? They have hours that they are open - if they are open, why am I getting charged $80?? There isn’t a timeframe they offer on Sunday where you won’t be charged. I work M-F and can’t keep my dog there an extra night and it felt like a cash-grab.

TL;DR - I would not bring my dog back here again. My dog came back covered in urine and we received no updates on his well-being during his stay. This place was also 50% more expensive than our usual boarding spot. Read other reviews as well and you will see plenty of others have had the same experience. I brought my dog here in April, and while I hate leaving bad reviews for any business, my Wife and I were very upset about the conditions our dog was in during his stay. When we showed up we asked to come inside to see where our dog would be staying. We were asked to wait outside for a minute because they were in the middle of “spring cleaning”. Once inside the place was definitely a big mess, but not the end of the world, however the smell of urine was so bad i’m honestly not even sure how people were working in there. We also quickly learned that where our dog would have access to use the restroom in their run was a little slab of concrete with a drain. Overall we walked out of the building and immediately started looking for somewhere else to board him, but only had an hour before our flight to leave, and ultimately left very uneasy about the situation. While we were gone we did not receive a single picture or update of our dog except for a picture they took while we were dropping him off. When we called we were told he was doing fine. Once we picked him up, it was immediately clear he was incredibly stressed and excited to be out of this place. He is boarded roughly 10-15 times a year at other places and we’ve never seen him act like this. He also smelled like he had been sitting in his own urine for days. Once we got home we received a report card saying he had “multiple accidents” while he was there. This is a 5 year old golden retriever who hasn’t had a single accident in the last 4 years or at any of the other boarding facilities he stays at. I would like to add that the staff all seemed friendly and I don’t think there was any intentional mistreatment of the pets staying there. However they need to do some serious work on the conditions the dogs are staying in.

DON’T BOARD YOUR DOGS HERE IF YOU WANT TO GO ON VACATION! (: Words can’t describe how disappointed this business has made my family. My husband and I planned on taking our baby to meet her great-great grandparents in Arizona before they pass away, and the day after we arrived, we received a call from the manager telling us we need to pick up our dogs because: 1) She barked at night and they have a noise ordinance… are you joking? How are you going to build a dog boarding/ “resort” where there’s a noise ordinance? Not my problem— dogs BARK! 2) She was causing damage to their kennels/escaping/endangering herself. We moved to South Carolina and previously boarded our dogs for years at another facility and never had an issue. When I asked why their runs were not properly suited and doggy-proof (our dog had apparently chewed the walls, and metal off the run door), the manager claimed they WERE dog-proof and said something along the lines of, “it’s not like we aren’t transparent and you can’t take a look back there yourself”… Why would I not assume the runs are dog-proof at a DOG facility? Also my dog hasn’t had a history of that behavior before; sorry I didn’t think to check if it was suitable? I apologize for assuming that any place advertising the board dogs had properly suited kennels. Next time I order food somewhere, I’m going to ask the waitress if the chef washed their hands/wore gloves. I wouldn’t consider their kennels doggy-proof after the photos they sent me of the “thousands in damage” my dog did. Not to mention— if she made multiple escape attempts and is endangering herself, NO, they are not dog-proof! It is really troublesome to me to ponder over WHY my dog was acting out like that if we never had that issue at our last facility (although, those kennels were concrete and adequately built FOR dogs). After having to buy expensive, last-minute plane tickets and cutting our trip miserably short and disappointing my great-grandparents, they felt it was justified to attempt to charge us full-price for their scheduled stay (when we picked up 3 days earlier than planned) plus “thousands in damages” that I could’ve easily repaired myself for a fraction. They acted like it was a favor when they took off the damages… you’re a dog resort. Prepare your facility to be resistant to dogs … I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re charging customers for their dogs for pooping in the wrong spot at this point- so ridiculous; it sounds like they are in the wrong business if they’re gonna whine over any imperfect dog behavior. Seems to me, we basically paid out-of-pocket for a business that claims we can trust our pets with them to ruin a really special trip, endanger our dogs, and waste loads on plane tickets that are unusable now!

I LOVE this Charleston Pet Resort and the people that work there. They do such a good job of making this dog mom heart feel at ease. I know that captain and jojo are in good hands and I could not ask for anything more. ♥️ 🐾

My babies know where they’re going the moment we turn onto Belgrade Ave. They absolutely love coming here whether to board or just for daycare. They go in fully energized and leave worn out from playing all day with the staff members and other dogs. My babies and I love the staff. They’re awesome, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I also love that they send my babies home with report cards that talk about their behavior, demeanor and how they ate, along with photos! I highly recommend CPR.
