Tesoro Preschool

We feel so lucky to have found Tesoro! My son started in the summer of 2025 and quickly fell in love with the talented, warm, and loving teachers. He is always busy with creative crafts and art projects, and his favorite days of the week are when he gets to do yoga and science activities. His teacher (Ms. Chesna) is exceptional and we are so grateful he is in her class. She strikes the perfect balance between being authoritative and deeply caring and compassionate - you can immediately tell how much the children love and respect her. She is exactly the kind of teacher every working parent hopes for: someone you trust completely, knowing your child is learning, growing, receiving a strong educational foundation, and developing good manners - all while enjoying their day. I also want to note that every teacher I’ve interacted with has been friendly, engaging, and wonderful. My son speaks very positively about all of them, which says so much about the culture and team at this school. The teachers go out of their way to make every holiday, including birthdays, extra special with treats and celebrations. I also especially love that Tesoro offers a monthly weekend Parents Night Out option (for an extra cost, but WELL worth it), which gives parents a 4-hour date night. The thought and care that go into the curriculum are remarkable. The teachers are always open to meeting with parents to discuss any challenges a child may be having and are thoughtful in offering suggestions and brainstorming solutions together. The Spanish immersion component is such a bonus - my son has picked up Spanish words and songs so quickly! The holiday performance was one of the most beautiful experiences our family has had at Tesoro. The kids sang in both Spanish and English, dressed up, and danced - it was really well done and you could tell how much time and effort the teachers put into making it special. My son still sings the songs almost 2 months later :) Tesoro has built a wonderful community, and I truly feel like I won the lottery finding this school for my son to thrive, grow, and flourish. The best way I can describe Tesoro is MAGICAL. 10/10—highly recommend this preschool to any family with young children!

You'd be hard pressed to find a better preschool in the vicinity. The founder Andrea Valdez founded the school about two years ago and it's clear she's doing this for all the right reasons. She sets a high bar that flows down through the rest of the staff. Our son has been attending Tesoro for an academic year and it's clear everyone is passionate and mission-driven...they truly care about all the kids so much! We truly appreciate our son's teacher Miss Andrea. She has a great mix of being fun but also setting thoughtful boundaries. She sends photo/video/text updates daily, they are extremely communicative. Impressive when they have 10+ kids on their hands! They always remember details we share, and always update us in person (at pickup) if there were notable events during the day. All the kids in his class enjoy each other and the socialization/structure has been hugely beneficial. Special thanks to Miss Heidy who works alongside Andrea Valdez running the school, she really cares about the kids immensely. They regularly put on events for parents to mingle and build community, or celebrations for the kids on major (or minor)holidays...things that take energy to organize, so they really go the extra mile! We feel extremely lucky to have such a great preschool nearby. I could only imagine the challenges of running a preschool, and have so much respect for this team that does it so well. Our youngest of two has been attending Tesoro Preschool since April 2024, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. This dual-immersion English/Spanish program has been phenomenal for our daughter’s growth and development. Just the other day, I captured a cute moment of her counting to 10 in Spanish on her fingers during our ride home! The way she picks up both languages throughout the day is truly amazing and bonus points for when she eventually starts at Golden Hill's UTK dual immersion program! Tesoro fosters a sense of pride and creativity in each child. Our little one is constantly bringing home art projects, beaming with a sense of accomplishment. We also love how the school incorporates yoga into their daily routine, helping her learn about her body and how everything works in such a fun, engaging way. Their outdoor space is one of her favorite spots - she loves garden, where she learns about bugs, vegetables, and, of course, good old dirt! The care, attention, and love that staff provides at Tesoro are truly unmatched. If you’re looking for a place that nurtures both language skills and a child’s overall well-being, we highly recommend Tesoro Preschool! Just a follow up - Ms. Chesna and Ms. Ismerai go above and beyond with their communication. Whether it’s a sweet photo of our daughter learning or playing, or a helpful heads-up about a classroom illness and what symptoms to watch for, they keep parents fully in the loop. Tesoro is truly a gem - warm, intentional, and deeply rooted in community. We couldn’t be happier to be part of it!

Our son has been at Tesoro for over a year now and we are incredibly happy with the care and education he has received there. When we first started, he had just turned 3 and we decided to start him part-time, at 2 days a week. His first day was incredible, and the Director, Miss Andrea, sent pictures and called me during the day to update me on how he was doing. I was blown away by this personal touch and was so incredibly thankful for the communication. While the first day went off without a hitch, he struggled with the transition for quite some time after that. He absolutely loved school once we left the building, but getting him through the door and saying goodbye was incredibly difficult. He would also forget all about that in the afternoon and we couldn’t get him OUT of school, but ya know… kids… His teacher during this time, Miss Andrea, was absolutely wonderful. She sent regular updates and helped him through these emotions by offering good solutions like giving him our picture to sleep with at nap time, or when he was sad. She also provided books and toys for him to borrow to get excited to go back to school. The most impactful thing she did, though, was make time for us every evening at pick-up to share a little about his day. Those chats were exactly what I needed, to know I was doing the right thing for my son. It took him time to come out of his shell and act more like himself, and now that he has, I whole-heartedly believe it’s because of the kindness, love, and care he’s received from the staff at Tesoro. We are now at Tesoro full time in miss Maria’s class. We’re at a point where he loves school, has made incredible friends, actually misses it when we travel, and has learned so much. Miss Maria lovingly challenges his abilities, and I am happy to say that he is now even reading in Spanish – something he definitely didn’t learn at home (sadly). I cannot recommend Tesoro enough, and hope someone finds this lengthy review helpful. Transitioning to preschool or any daycare can be tough. But I can promise you, your kids are in great hands at this Preschool!

Our youngest has been with Tesoro for nearly two years and we couldn’t love it more! He is excited to go to school each day and we love not only hearing about all of the fun and fascinating things he’s learning but also seeing the good friend and classmate he’s become. As a military family with three kids we’ve experienced several preschools and Tesoro is truly top notch. The whole staff is warm, loving, and supportive. A special thanks goes to our child’s primary teacher, Ms. Andrea, who always goes above and beyond for her students. She is an absolute gift to our child, our family, and the whole school community!
