San Antonio Humane Society

Me and my boyfriend drove to the humane society this morning , we saw two cute kittens on the website , Huey and Louie. They were advertised on the website and we booked it over there to get a chance to meet with them and hopefully adopt however the lady said they weren’t ready for adoption and they wouldn’t be ready for 10 days. They were in quarantine. If that’s the case please don’t put them on the website advertising them, and put them out there for everyone to see. If they needed to be quarantined then leave them in quarantine especially if they’re not ready to interact with humans. I would believe other people wanting to adopt would see them also and make the drive out there to only be disappointed and let down. Very misleading. Now they take them Down on the website because I bet other people were asking about them. Do that in the first place San Antonio humane society.

Brought a stray cat in for alterations. I paid the $68 fee online for the first appt. Appointments for the month of November for the $30 price was opened on Oct 27 and I didn’t get one. I opted to have his nails clipped and I gave him all of his vaccines. Everything was pretty affordable. About $225 total. I would like to see some rates better if there are people helping out with the steady population. But he’s a sweet cat and I’m hoping to find him a good home once he is healed. All employees were amazing!! Friendly. Nice. Helpful. Upon arriving, I went to the front desk to obtain a number. You have to fill out the paper work there, or you could print and fill out in advance. I filled it out in advance. The facility itself was nice. When we went back to pick him up, there was dog poop on the floor.

The San Antonio Humane Society is an exceptional facility that truly deserves a five-star rating. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear how much care and pride the team takes in maintaining such a clean, welcoming, and beautifully designed campus. The grounds are well-kept, and every space—from the kennels to the play areas—feels thoughtfully planned to ensure the comfort and happiness of the animals. The staff is outstanding. Every person we met was kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the animals in their care. You can feel the love and dedication they pour into their work, from greeting visitors with a smile to making sure each dog and cat feels safe and loved. The animals were healthy, happy, and clearly well cared for. One of the most impressive parts of our visit was the medical area. It’s top notch—spotlessly clean, professional, and equipped with everything the animals might need. They even have a water treadmill for rehabilitation, which shows just how advanced and thoughtful their approach to animal wellness is. It’s amazing to see a shelter so committed to providing high-quality medical care to every pet that comes through their doors. During our visit, they were also hosting a free cat and kitten adoption event, and it was heartwarming to see so many families finding their new furry companions. The Humane Society of San Antonio is a true model of compassion, professionalism, and community service. It’s a beautiful place doing incredible work for animals and the people who love them. Highly recommend visiting, adopting, or supporting their mission!

Visited the San Antonio Humane Society location of IH-410 & Fredericksburg rd area for a fund raising event. You have to really admire the work the individuals do inside caring for pets (mostly cats and dogs) who have been mistreated, discarded, left alone or given up willingly because they were not properly cared for by their owners. The work, and place is amazing and the place strives to find a loving and caring home for each of the pets taken in. If you are looking for a pet and can commit to giving it a wonderful home, please check with this place. Also, if you visit, I hope your experience is as good as mine was or better. If you can, leave a donation as any amount is accepted. I added some pictures of a dog in rehab pool, exercise area, and some of the items being auctioned off the night we were there.

Wonderful non profit animal shelter/rescue. I particularly love their cat cottage!! They have floor to ceiling window views for the cats in the cat sun rooms which gives them the ability to stretch their legs and get out of the kennels! I've been visiting this shelter since 2012 and it seems like every year they get better and better.
