Rosemount Center

We have two kids who attend Rosemount and come out smiling and excited every day. The teachers are extremely caring and kind and really get to know our kids. We love that Rosemount serves a diverse group of students and that it has been a neighborhood institution for so long that some of our kids friends have parents who went to Rosemount when they were kids.

Rosemount provides excellent early child education from dedicated staff and teachers. My child really enjoyed her preschool years there. They also support many critical programs such a home visits for children with additional needs, and serves as a critical bilingual early education institution for the Mount Pleasant neighborhood and DC more broadly.

From the moment that I dropped off our 8 month old son at Rosemount for the first time, I have had the comfort of knowing that he's at the best place. His teachers are excellent and it’s evident that every staff member is dedicated to caring for the children of Rosemount. But what makes Rosemount unique—and irreplaceable—is the sense of mission that pervades its culture: Rosemount is home to children from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, in a bilingual environment, and it ensures that every child who walks through its doors has the best start. It's not just a daycare, or even a school, but a pillar of our community.

Our son went to Rosemount for 5 years, starting when he was 5 months old, through preK-4. Many years prior to that, two of my nephews attended Rosemount. Rosemount was our son’s second home. I can’t imagine a more nurturing, loving, safe, and enriching environment for young children. The teachers there are amazing. Even through the pandemic they put their all into guiding our children and keeping them safe. As our son grew, they nurtured and supported his particular interests. He’s thriving in kindergarten now and we know that Rosemount helped set him up for that. More important than serving our family, who had other options if necessary, Rosemount serves families who have few others - through its incredible Head Start and home visit program. This city, in which accessible, affordable daycare and pre-K is already at a premium, cannot afford to lose a treasure like the Rosemount Center.

Rosemount is a sanctuary. Rosemount provides incredible education and community for a broad range of residents in DC, across the cultural, language, socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic spectrums. We cherish the education our children receive and the community they are apart of. The teachers and administrative staff are committed and wonderful. We’ve met families we would not have otherwise if not for this wonderful community we are a part of. Rosemount is part of what makes the Mount Pleasant community what it is today
