I chose Mr. Electric specifically because their website states: “We quote by the job, not the hour…you’ll know the final price before any work begins.” Unfortunately, my experience did not align with that promise. What seems to be an increasingly common practice in Houston... rather than providing a reasonable ballpark estimate over the phone for standard work (like installing a chandelier, ceiling fan, or TV mount), they insisted on coming out first. The technician’s very first comment upon arrival was how nice our house was, and shortly after, the pricing discussion began. The original quote for a single chandelier install was $500 for about an hour of work. At that rate, the price felt disconnected from the scope, complexity, and time required for a very standard residential installation. We ended up spending nearly an hour negotiating the price, which likely cost the company more in labor than if they had simply come in with a fair, transparent rate from the start. There was also pressure to purchase a “membership” to lower the price, which felt like an artificial discount layered onto an already inflated quote. We added an additional job based on the suggestion that bundling work would reduce the overall cost. That other job was a floating console installation with a TV mount and in-wall wiring. While the technician was polite, professional, and clearly trying to do his job, there were execution issues that shouldn’t happen at this price point. He initially eyeballed measurements until I provided a tape measure, and although he later measured, the final installation ended up noticeably out of level. He acknowledged it was off, but after checking with my own level, it was more than “just a hair.” Correcting it now would require drywall repair due to hole placement…a frustrating outcome after paying in full. I want to be very clear: this review is not meant to penalize the technician. He was courteous and respectful. The issue is with Mr. Electric’s pricing model, tools, and quality controls. If you’re charging premium prices, your technicians should be equipped with proper tools (like a level that actually spans the work surface), and jobs should not be completed unless they can be done correctly. The explanation that “every house is different” does not justify the inability to provide ballpark pricing for extremely common installations. What it does enable is subjective, appearance-based pricing, which directly contradicts the transparency Mr. Electric advertises. In short: polite technician, but disappointing pricing practices and quality oversight. I paid for the job, but I would not choose Mr. Electric again unless their pricing transparency truly matches what they promise on their website.

I rent a house inside the loop and my landlord has been using William from Mr. Electric for many years. He does an outstanding job and it’s nice to know he remembers the quirks of the house over the years. Highly recommend and keep up the great work!!!

I had a very good experience with Mr.Electric.I liked that they sent a text message with the Electrician’s pictures so I knew who to expect. Before they did the job, they came out and gave me a quote at no charge. The first thing they did was to look for safety issues. They found some that I didn’t know I had and of course I decided to have them repaired Isiac and Angel did a really great job putting in some indoor light fixtures for me. They also put up a wired in doorbell and repaired our front porch lights, put in a new grounding rod and worked on our electrical panel. They were very respectful of my property. They wore booties when they were inside the house. They swept up everything afterwards and cleaned up really well. They were very polite and answered any questions that I had. I felt very comfortable having them come to my home. I would definitely use them again. Highly recommend!

Hi had a great experience with Mr. Electric. I needed a switch replaced, two can lights installed, and to find and open up a coax jack that was accidentally covered by drywall. I made a request through Angi’s list, and writhing a minute I got a call from Mr. Electric’s dispatch. A minute later, I had an appointment for the following day. My tech William arrived on the dot. He was knowledgeable, thorough, and professional. He performed a careful check of my electric system, looked at the problem areas identified, and then worked out a fair price for the repairs. Once he started work, he learnt that the problem with the broken switch was more complicated than previously thought, yet he finished all needed repairs and honored our agreed price. I am very satisfied with the service provided.

William is a great communicator. Very transparent and direct. He was accommodating and patient with all my questions, wrote out options for solutions, and went above and beyond to make sure I understood the scope of the work, the cost breakdown, and that I felt comfortable with it. He took lots of pictures without me having to ask and walked me through all the finished work when he was done. Very professional, kind, and fast worker! The work itself looked very good and clean when he was all done. I definitely feel safer in my home and understand more about what's going on in it.
