I used J&M to install a generac whole house generator. While I did like Jason the sales rep and the actual workers that did the install, I was very frustrated with the communication from the office once I signed the contract. I was told 5-6 weeks, but heard Nothing from them for a couple months. I had to make several phone calls before I was told there was an issue with the propane tank delivery. Instead of communicating that to me, they set my order to the side and forgot it. Almost 3 months after I signed the contract it was finally installed, but the propane tanks were delivered nearly empty. They said suburban would be out to fill them. A week went by, I called and was told suburban wasn’t answering their calls or emails and that I would have to call, mind you the first fill was to be supplied by J&M per contract. So I call suburban, they answer in a couple rings and informed me they had no info on me so they couldn’t schedule until J&M gave them info. So I had to make another call to J&M to tell them to give my info to suburban, 2 days later they just showed up with no warning, so again, NO communication. I don’t know if they have more business then They can handle or just incompetent office staff, but the total lack of communication certainly brings down their rating from me.

J&M is a godsend! From start to finish, the customer service was exceptional. Bo, the technician, was punctual, communicated clearly, and demonstrated impressive expertise. After a large company (who advertises they do HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical etc.) claimed my mom’s generator needed urgent replacement due to an oil leak, I sought a second opinion. Bo arrived on time, ran thorough tests, and found a minor leak that was easily fixed by tightening a hose. He even pointed out that the air filter hadn’t been changed since 2016! We are grateful for J&M’s honesty and look forward to having them handle our annual maintenance. Thank you, Bo and J&M!

Jason arrived earlier than our appointed time after calling to see if it was OK. He explained what needed to be done, and fixed it promptly. He was professional and very polite. My husband and I will definitely call J&M again for another project. Thanks Jason and J&M Electrical Services!

I scheduled four electricians to provide quotes on relocating a point of attachment. The last company I met with was J&M Electrical Services, and Jason stood out for his honesty compared to the others. My initial plan was to move the point of attachment from the second-floor porch to the ground level for tenant safety and to meet Dominion Energy requirements. Instead of just quoting the job, Jason asked thoughtful questions about why I wanted the work done that way. After reviewing the situation, he explained there was a better approach that would still meet requirements while saving me thousands of dollars. He went above and beyond by working directly with Dominion Energy to ensure the project was done correctly and cost-effectively. The other three electricians didn’t offer this solution they only saw the project as a way to make money. Jason’s integrity and willingness to look out for my best interest speak volumes about his character and about J&M Electrical Services. Thank you, Jason, for your help and for saving me unnecessary expenses. I highly recommend J&M Electrical Services. Honesty and building long-term relationships go a long way!

We had a consultation and estimate on December 31 and were scheduled for work on January 2 and 3. The projects, as shown in the screenshot I provided, totaled $4,617 for what was supposed to be two days of work. However, the actual work took about eight hours over those two days, involving one professional and two apprentices. I questioned the high labor costs for work that didn’t last the full two days, and the estimator explained that the presence of the apprentices made the process quicker. He even suggested that he could send one of the apprentices home on the second day if we wanted the work to take longer, which I found insulting. I feel we were overcharged for labor. While I would like an itemized list of what we paid for, I don’t think it’s worth pursuing further; we’ve decided not to return as customers. Additionally, there is now visible damage around the panel box that needs repair. If the panel box had been installed correctly, the cutout area would have been covered, preventing this eyesore. The panel box is also not flush with the wall, leaving enough space for my fingers to fit underneath. They also created a hole in one of our shutters and attempted to cover it up as if we wouldn’t notice. Furthermore, the ground wire for our slab is connected to the fence, which we plan to replace—what happens then? Lastly, we had to call them back to install a bubble on the outlet at the back. The main worker told my husband it wasn't necessary, which is why it wasn’t installed during their initial visit. When they finally put it on, the work was done poorly. It seems that the phrase "cutting corners" triggered the estimator, and I may have inadvertently offended him; my only intention was to ensure that the work was done properly, especially given the high cost for what was supposed to be two full days of work. While my main complaint is not solely about the costs, I expected top-quality workmanship for the price we paid. I believe they could have taken more time to deliver a more polished result. On a positive note, we do appreciate having the convenience of an outlet in our hallway now.
