As a local, I’ve been looking for a "home base" spa in Miami, and since I was gifted a treatment for my birthday, I really wanted the Carillon to be the one. The property itself is a 10/10—the facilities, the vibes, and the overall resort atmosphere are world-class. However, there is a glaring gap between how beautiful the facility is and the actual quality of the treatment I received. I was offered a choice between Deep Tissue and Swedish, with the understanding that the Swedish would provide "medium pressure." I’ve had many professional massages, and unfortunately, this was the least effective I’ve ever received. My therapist was very kind and sweet, but the session lacked any real technical skill. Despite me mentioning that I am a runner with specific tension in my legs—which the therapist even acknowledged by telling me I needed to stretch more—there was practically no pressure applied to actually address those areas. It’s honestly embarrassing that I get more relief from my massage gun at home than I did from a professional session at a premier resort. I kept waiting for that moment where you finally "melt" and relax, but it never arrived. It felt more like a light application of oil and warm stones than a massage. I was so deflated by the experience that I ended up leaving immediately, skipping my plans for lunch and the pool. The lady at check out even asked if I got to enjoy the resort and out of embarrassment I said I was short on time. The Carillon has a gorgeous footprint, but the actual massage services need work if they want to keep locals coming back. I wanted to love this place, but it’s hard to justify a return visit when the core service is this underwhelming. Perhaps I was the outlier, which is very possible, but I had so much hope and this left my birthday pamper day feel like a wasted opportunity.

This review is difficult to write because parts of our stay at Carillon were genuinely enjoyable. We liked the room, gym, and several of the wellness facilities. Unfortunately, the way multiple issues were handled, culminating in a serious valet incident, completely undermined the experience. The most alarming issue occurred at checkout. When I retrieved my car from valet on Sunday, there was clearly visible cocaine residue throughout the interior of my vehicle, including the center console, dashboard, and both interior door handles. We dropped the car with valet on Friday evening and did not access it again until pickup. I immediately reported this to the front desk and valet management. Security photographed the vehicle, took a written statement, and told me camera footage would be reviewed and that I would receive a follow-up call that evening. More than a week later and despite multiple attempts and channels to contact management, I have received no follow-up. This is not a minor service issue. It is a serious breach of guest safety, trust, and basic operational controls. The lack of urgency and leadership involvement after an incident involving drugs in a guest’s car is shocking for a resort that markets itself around wellness and care. Beyond that: • Multiple staff members confirmed our package included a $30 per person breakfast credit. At checkout, this was disputed and handled poorly. • Valet charges appeared on our bill despite being included and had to be manually removed. • Incorrect spa charges resulted in a checkout process that took nearly an hour. The spa experience itself was also unacceptable. We booked a couples massage where both massage tables had broken headrests, forcing uncomfortable positioning, and the heating pad on my wife’s table did not work. My wife is a Pilates instructor and bodyworker and found the massage so uncomfortable she stopped it early. While the spa director was apologetic, requesting a refund for an unusable service felt unnecessarily contentious. There was also a troubling safety incident in the women’s sauna where an elderly guest fell directly in front of my wife. She assisted the guest and waited approximately 20 minutes for security to arrive. The response was slow and procedural rather than urgent. Both my wife and I work in hospitality. We understand that isolated issues happen. What is unacceptable is the pattern of poor communication, lack of accountability, and complete absence of leadership follow-up, especially after a serious safety incident. Carillon positions itself as a luxury wellness destination. Our experience did not reflect that standard.

Very convenient to Publix grocery store. We did not try spa services, but enjoyed lap swimming in the adult only pool, but disappointed that towels were not available most days. That's actually a safety issue since you end up dripping water down the stairs as you leave. Exercise room is top notch. Sort of sad that beach lounge chairs are removed at 5 pm. We sat in the sand to enjoy the evening. Rooms are nicely designed, but could use some maintenance. Drawers and cupboard doors in the kitchen are wobbly. We had to request extra dishes and glasses. We would have appreciated a tag for the door to avoid housekeeping, brighter lighting for reading, a coffee maker or at least coffee in the lobby, ability to view movies such as an HBO channel or smart TV where we could log into our subscription accounts. I believe the hotel offered 6 movies to choose from, ~$20. Seems kind of cheap, considering the nightly room rate.

From the moment we walked in, we knew this stay would be special. We were warmly welcomed by one of the hotel leaders, Marc, and from there every single interaction exceeded expectations — from the incredible locker room team to Dana at the front desk and the staff at the beach stand. Everyone was professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. The hotel is immaculately clean, the amenities are truly first-class, and the location is absolutely perfect for a relaxing three-night getaway. The rooms are gracious, beautifully appointed, and thoughtfully designed with everything you could possibly need. One of our favorite parts of the stay was taking the complimentary bikes down to South Beach, then coming back to unwind in the pool — such a perfect balance of activity and relaxation. This was our second visit to Carillon, and it somehow managed to be even better than the first. We met a lovely couple from Montreal who have been coming here for over 14 years — and now we completely understand why. We’re already planning to return with our little kids in the next few months and can’t wait to make this a place we come back to for years to come. Thank you to the entire Carillon team for another unforgettable stay!

The Carillon is our favorite weekend getaway! The rooms are gorgeous, the spa is unmatched, and the whole experience is worth every moment. Our group of six spent the day in the spa and all had incredible massages. Hans and Monica were outstanding—therapists who know the body inside and out. Both went above and beyond to not only relieve tension but to truly restore and rejuvenate us. It was clear that their goal was to have us leave feeling better than when we arrived—and they succeeded. The level of care, skill, and dedication they bring to their work is remarkable. An unforgettable experience we can’t wait to repeat!
