I recently visited AWAY Spa at the W Hotel and unfortunately, the experience did not match the luxury price point. I booked the Reset Massage, which came out to nearly $300, and I left feeling underwhelmed and honestly disappointed. From the beginning, the experience felt rushed. There wasn’t much time spent asking about pressure preferences, focus areas, or specific tension points. The massage itself felt very fast-paced with quick transitions and movements, which made it difficult to fully relax. I typically fall asleep during massages because I’m able to settle into the rhythm — but this time I couldn’t get comfortable at all. The aromatherapy portion at the beginning was also underwhelming. It was mentioned as part of the experience, but there was barely any scent — I genuinely couldn’t smell anything. For a spa positioning itself as luxury, those small sensory details really matter. In addition, the amenities didn’t feel elevated enough to justify the price. For nearly $300, I expected a more immersive experience — whether that be more attentive service, better pre- or post-treatment relaxation areas, or thoughtful finishing touches. I also didn’t feel much physical difference before and after the massage, which is disappointing considering the service is marketed as a “reset.” Overall, the experience felt more like a standard hotel spa massage rather than a premium luxury service. For that price point, I expected a higher level of attentiveness, personalization, and relaxation.

I didn’t have a bad experience here and the spa is very nice- I just wished that for the price point it was a better experience. I understand it is a hotel spa and it is the W, which means the services are going to be pricer than average. However, I didn’t receive the level of attentiveness or service you would expect for an almost 300 dollar massage. I sat in the waiting room for a good amount of time before anyone addressed me. The massage was okay. The pool, which is part of the reason why I booked, was closed for an event and they didn’t let me know prior to showing up. They did give me a pass to come back and use the pool which was nice, but I did have to find time in my schedule to do that. They don’t offer any other amenities besides the pool and shower/locker room. Overall, it was an okay experience, but a little overpriced for what you get.

My experience at the AWAY Spa was lovely, however, I’m unsure if I’d revisit. You pay for the experience and ambience of the spa, which I thought was mostly worth it. The upsides of my experience included the amenities, such as the comfy robe & slippers, a ginger shot upon arrival, and access to the heated pool. Nicole, my masseuse, was also beyond professional and so wonderful. However, I’ve definitely had better & more affordable messages elsewhere. If you’re looking for a massage itself to ease tension and to workout knots, then I’d suggest elsewhere. If you are hoping for an entire experience, then this may be your place! Unfortunately, I did also book the “birthday boost”, but did not receive any champagne as indicated as being included on the website. I also saw in past reviews that guests would get a small note or card wishing them a happy birthday, however, I did not get anything beyond the regular service. Not the end of the world, but would have been a small, nice touch. Would perhaps try again on a special occasion!

I went to the Away spa at the W to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful experience! From the start, everyone was really thoughtful and attentive. As a plus size woman, they had larger robes that actually fit (actually with a lot of room to spare) and it’s that attention to detail that is often overlooked but so important; it really made me feel comfortable and taken care of. I did the birthday enhancement with the de-stress massage. The massage was great, Kate was excellent, and it included a glass of champagne after in their chill lounge. They also wrote me a little note and surprised me with a piece of cake; again, so thoughtful and attentive. You also get access to their pool for the day which is so worth it. The only recommendation I would make is dimming the lights a bit in the lounge; it was really nice and comfortable could’ve had a slightly more relaxing vibe. Would highly recommend and will be going again for sure!

I’m surprised this place doesn’t have more reviews, so I’m here to do my part! The staff at this spa are super friendly and really know their stuff. As someone who’s plus-size, I really appreciated that they’re size-inclusive. If you’re worried about the robe fitting, don’t be—they have larger sizes available, and you can exchange it without any awkwardness. They all look the same too! I treated myself to a manicure and a facial for my birthday, and it was such a special experience. Definitely go for the birthday boost if you can—they give you a generous pour of rosé! The facial was incredibly relaxing. I’m not usually comfortable with people touching me, so I was a bit nervous about the neck massage, but all my worries melted away instantly. I think I almost fell asleep in the chair—I swear I heard myself snore! I was so relaxed afterward that I could barely keep my eyes open for dinner. Overall, it was one of the best experiences of my life, and I’ll definitely be signing up for another facial soon. Highly recommend!
