I thoroughly enjoyed my regular workout in the well equipped gym. As long as you avoid the busiest times, the experience is always positive!

For the price they charge, this gym feels like something our dads used 20 years ago — back in the Arnold Schwarzenegger era. There isn’t even a proper set of pre-loaded (fixed weight) barbells. You have to manually load plates, clip them, and set everything up yourself every single time. Even gyms that charge a third of this price provide fixed barbells as standard. Paying a premium and not even having basic equipment like that is honestly shocking. Add to that how overcrowded it is at all times, and it’s simply not worth the money.

Get rid of the tiered membership and build a bigger gym. I pay for an off peak membership and the equipment I want to use is pretty much never free. It costs 4x the price of the membership I paid at my previous unis. And the rule of not being allowed to take your shoesoff is something I hate.

Very poor customer/client experience with staff. Raised a complaint in May with inadequate responses from Jamie Chick. Escalated to management team and have had no response from them, despite me emailing almost weekly for an update. Their own policies state management aim to respond within a few working days. I’ve followed up with Jamie and Mark multiple times - I’ve either been ignored or told to wait. It’s been 3 months. I regret paying in full for the year or I would’ve stopped my direct debit. 2 stars given because the facilities are thankfully better than the service from management. It gets very very busy at peak times. The sauna and steam room are both too small for a gym this size and can close at almost no notice for a week. Community members get 3 hours parking, which is good, but zero charging points in a huge multi-storey is outdated. Swipe access is also outdated - members should be able to scan a card instead.
