TMPL - West Village

Gotta talk about the Trainer ANGEL. He is kicking my ass. And it is changing my life and giving me structure. Coming back from a previous “fit” life, I salute how he is restoring my legs and shoulders with shape and size. How can he know so much while still being young?! A Natural Leader. GREAT sessions! I've worked out at TMPL - West Village since I moved downtown several years ago and have loved the gym and the team there. The key characteristics I'm looking for in a gym are a variety of equipment (cardio and weights), not so busy that it's impossible to use them, and that the equipment and spaces are clean and well-maintained. Last year, I took them up on their offer of a free personal training session and then continued to work with my trainer Nico. I've worked with trainers before and so I had a sense of what to expect, but I've been really impressed with Nico. He spent time to understand my goals and came up with programming and routines that were new to me, even after a lot of time in the gym on my own and with previous trainers. He holds me accountable but in a friendly way that makes it fun, and doesn't feel like a burden or an obligation. I look forward to spending time with him to learn new exercises, and I typically feel more accomplished after working out with him than on my own, because he pushes me (gently!) in ways I might not push myself. He's fun, kind, knowledgeable, and is a real value add to my time at TMPL.

Personal trainer review: My experience with the personal trainer Malaina was fantastic and I would give that five stars. She was very receptive of my goals and tailored my training along the way to fit my needs. She also had good nutrition advice and was overall fun to work with. I had a great experience with her and would highly recommend her! Review for the gym: The gym itself is nice, well located, but I found it to be too small and slightly crowded. The training area where you can put a mat down gets quite busy depending on the time you go. It didn’t fully fit my needs as I wanted more classes in this gym (not other locations), and the gym opening times seemed restrictive. On Fridays it closes at 8pm and on weekends at 7pm and only opens at 8am, which I found not practical for me. There were quite a few occasions when the only time I had was past 7 or 8pm on a weekend and it wouldn’t be a possibility to go. Ended up not using it as much as I wanted because of this reason. Other than that, the gym is clean and the staff is very nice.

Hands down the best gym I’ve ever belonged to. The staff is extremely friendly, the fellow gym goers are kind and cool, and there is no toxic gym culture. Everyone you will come across at TMPL is there for the same reason, to get better and to crush their goals, and that’s what a great gym is all about. If you’re looking for an epic gym that fosters a sense of community, then this is the place for you. Looking forward to continuing my gym journey at TMPL and meeting more great people along the way, happy New Year 🙏💙

This gym has become so much more than a gym for me since living in the west village. I love going everyday. Gym-wise it strikes the perfect balance of “gym”, space, equipment, and accommodations. I love how relaxed and motivated I feel when I’m there. People-wise it’s couldn’t be better. Everyone is so warm, normal, and helpful. I especially want to shoutout the evening front desk crew Sasha and Justin! Their kindness and fun energy made my one-off 8 PM session surprisingly great. It’s little interactions like that that make TMPL feel like a true neighborhood spot.
