WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER!! We made the mistake of hiring a moving broker -- Moving APT -- instead of a moving company (they lied when I flat-out asked, told me they were a moving company). Moving APT in turn assigned the job to Shift Van Lines, who in turn subcontracted the last leg out to another horrible moving company, Green Lines. I now understand that they use multiple movers to avoid all accountability. Your stuff got broken in the move? Good luck figuring out who to file a claim with!! They will pass the ball like a hot potato. Kind of when trump says "I've never met (Jeffrey Epstein, Jean Carrol, fill in the blank)" ... similar evasive strategy. Our move from CT to TX ended up costing DOUBLE what the broker initially quoted, for no reason -- from $2,200 quoted to $4,400, plus tips for two sets of moving guys. All this for a mostly well-packed 1-BR apt going from one storage facility to another. This should have been a simple move. At our final destination of Austin TX, the movers were supposed to make two stops: first at our house, to drop off a few pieces of furniture; then the remaining boxes were supposed to go to a storage facility located 4 mins from the house. Shift Van Lines charged us $250 for the additional stop, WHICH NEVER TOOK PLACE, BECAUSE THE MOVERS THEY SUBCONTRACTED SENT AN ABSURDLY HUGE 18-WHEELER TRUCK that would not fit in or anywhere near our storage facility. Very inappropriate vehicle for a small move!! Shift Van Lines claims they did not know that Green Lines would be using such a huge truck -- even though it was their responsibility to know, they were supposed to move our stuff from CT to TX. The absence of communication is on them. To add insult to injury we were charged the $250 for the addt'l stop IN TRIPLICATE -- once by each of the 3 moving companies involved! When Green Lines -- the folks subcontracted by Shift Van Lines to complete my move -- realized they could not fit their truck in the storage facility, they just dumped all our belongings in our garage!! So now my garage is packed to the gills, and my car is un-safely parked on the street. PLUS NOW WE HAVE TO HIRE YET ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY TO MOVE THE STUFF FROM THE GARAGE TO THE STORAGE FACILITY!! That's going to cost us an additional $800! I'm pretty sure we were charged the $499 broker's booking fee in triplicate too -- once by each of the 3 moving companies involved, including Shift Van Lines. Their invoicing could not be more opaque. Furthermore, when our stuff was being held somewhere in Baltimore (I put several AirTags in our boxes to track location), before being transferred to another truck ... Ryan from Shift called me and said I had to pay an additional $500 to schedule the final delivery date ... else they could not guarantee our stuff would be delivered at all!! Basically they held our stuff hostage for ransom (we did not pay the extortion fee) -- because gouging us for twice what they'd quoted me was not highway robbery enough for these people!! Our TVs arrived broken, the frames of half our framed art arrived cracked & chipped, and each company says I need to file a claim with the OTHER movers. None wants to accept our claim, they are non-responsive. My husband is a litigation lawyer, we may have to sue all 3 companies involved :-( DON'T DO IT. JUST. DON'T!!

Oscar and Kevin were fantastic. They packed up all of my belongings quickly, carefully, and with great attention to detail. They made the entire experience seamless, stress-free, and were incredibly kind throughout the process. I truly appreciate their hard work and would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Kevin and his partner arrived within the promised window and did their job fast and with care. Not ideal but every move incurs some losses. These here minimal. Update: Later I found things that made me lower the review to 4 stars. I understand that nobody is perfect, hence less than perfect review.

Changing my review to 1 star. Although the drivers, packers, and unloaders were great. The company overall is poorly ran. My furniture was severely damaged in my move, and they misplaced my couch in the warehouse. Delivery took 2-3 attempts bc the trucks "broke down". Not to mention, they harass you the day of delivery for the remaining payment. However, they bully you in cash payments, but only accept zelle payments which normally have a daily limit. Long story there... I was told I could make card payments when booking the company. So why did I have to pay my remaining balance in cash and before unloading to take inventory of my items? The guy coordinating everything on the phone was awful, rude, and refused a card payment. So you lose my couch, demand payment before unloading everything, whereas I find my quality furniture damaged beyond repair. Now it's been 2 months, and I haven't heard anything back from the claims department. I will file my complaint through the better business bureau next. Just beware if you decide to use them. Previous: Dominick and Brian from Shift Van Lines were amazing! They carefully wrapped and packed my heavy furniture, worked quickly and efficiently, and were so polite, friendly, and considerate. Couldn’t have asked for a better moving team—highly recommend!

🚚🚚🚚Shift Moving and Storage 🚚🚚🚚 – Erick and Ed are absolute rockstars! 🤘 From the moment Erick and Ed arrived, it was clear we were in the good hands. We had an insanely tight deadline to get everything delivered and set up before an event, and these two hustled like I’ve never seen. They worked nonstop—never a break, never a complaint—just pure focus and efficiency from start to finish. What stood out most was how much they cared. They were incredibly accommodating, asking thoughtful questions about placement and making sure every piece was exactly where we wanted it. They treated our furniture like it was their own—unwrapping the padding, and handling everything with precision. And they were just as careful with the house—no scuffs, no dings, not even a mark on the floors or walls. Erick and Ed turned a stressful move into a smooth, almost enjoyable experience. Professional, fast, friendly, and genuinely good people. If you’re lucky enough to get them on your crew, consider yourself set. Shift is lucky to have them—five stars all the way!
