I rarely leave reviews - But this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others. I reached out to Mak three times to ask when I could pick up my tax return that I dropped off in early March and was ignored each time. On the actual day taxes were DUE, I had to chase him down myself. When I finally got in touch, he was shockingly rude and disrespectful, and then told me the fee was $395--even though he had originally quoted me $95. This was never mentioned until the last possible moment, and it honestly felt like a bait-and-switch. If I had known the real cost from the beginning, I never would've trusted him with my information. I'm filing a complaint with the Rhode Island Board of Accountancy, because this behavior is not just unprofessional--it's unethical. Avoid at all costs.

I asked Mak to file my taxes. I thought all was well. Years later I’m looking to buy a new property, my lender discovered that Mak had not deducted my mortgage interest or my home owner insurance, which are the largest deductions. He had failed to deduct 8k for 2023 and another 8k for 2022. He had also misspelled my name while filing for my property state taxes, so now the state does not acknowledge my ownership of my home, which my lawyer had discovered for me. I have been begging Mak to correct these mistakes for months! I even gave him the correct figures to update, but nothing. The amount of damage Mak has done is ridiculous! Not to mention the 1k I’d paid him, while I myself would have been able to file it better. I am furious. He’s been dodging my calls. Mak does not know what he is doing! Do not let him file your taxes! He is unqualified. To top it off he marked me “married filing separately” when I have never been married, this is a dangerous assumption to make without asking me. And like I said none of this has been corrected by him.

This was my fourth year with Mak. He is straight forward and easy to work with. I feel organized and confident in my taxes every time I leave his office. Would reccommend to anyone looking for a great tax accountant.

Mak did a great job with my taxes. I received a lot more in my return than I thought I would. His services are definitely worth it. Very professional, straight forward, and makes the process simple to understand

My husband and I did our 2019 taxes with Mak and he was great! He was thorough and patient and helped us address all of our questions about our complicated return. His prices are reasonable and overall Mak was exceptional to work with. We used to use H&R for taxes and this experience was more convenient, faster, and more pleasant in general.
