Mid-American Moving

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON USING THIS COMPANY TO MOVE. Pay attention to the negative reviews because those will give you a better idea of how this company handles its business. They will get you in the door with a low, unbeatable quote, and then add a bunch of charges (stairs, walking more than 75 ft, packing materials) until the price is way above the quote, in my case over $2k above. You won't see the actual price until your stuff is already on the truck. Customer service is non-existent, any review replies you see about "Customer Care Advocate" are phony, they don't really have a customer service department. I was mocked and threatened to have my stuff sent back when I asked about extra charges and when my stuff would be delivered. The point-person who said he would be there "every step of the way" was ineffectual, disinterested and hard to reach. Also seemingly unaware of how the foremans handle the moving process. I had moved once before and expected a video or in-person inventory but that never happened. They will take your stuff to a warehouse and then contract out to "moving companies" which in my case was a couple, a truck with a trailer, and their three dogs. They also had to hire their own people to help unload everything, and weren't given the cubic ft that my stuff took up to confirm the estimate by the original foreman, so I am unsure if my stuff even took up that much room as they claimed, and the major reason for the upcharge. They will nickel and dime you every step of the way while taking little to no responsibility for how they do business. I now wish I had gone with a different company all together. The person who gave the original estimate feigned confusion and that he would look into it, but I never heard from him again. To summarize, they will get you in with a low quote, wait until they have your stuff on the truck, and then you're at their mercy unless you have the fortune to be able to pivot at that point. They will overcharge for packing materials (a few boxes, some plastic wrap, and tape ran me $600) and add other charges like $600 for "parking". From there they will contract out the job and take no responsibility for anything that happens afterwards. On top of it all, several items were broken, probably from the repeated loading and unloading along the way, and you have to go through some third party insurance company. One more thing, although this is speculation, a lot of the 5 star reviews with pictures are probably pictures taken by the movers. They took pictures of my stuff at the begginning for "inventory" but those never came up again when discussing why I was charged so much more and why the cubic foot estimate was so much higher. I was certainly never allowed in the truck to take pictures of my stuff, so it's strange that so many pictures are from inside the moving truck. You've been warned. Go with someone else! I moved before with All My Sons and they were way more helpful and accountable.

I highly and absolutely recommend this moving company! They were kind, professional, and conscientious! Lou and his men Gerald and Lou were awesome! I will call them for every moving need in the future!! Highly recommended! Do yourself a favor call them!

This is my 14th move in 6 years due to my work. I've probably used about 9 different companies and this time I decided to go with Mid-American and I must say LU AND HIS CREW WERE THE BEST CREW I HAVE EVER HAD RELOCATE ME!! He was very professional, efficient, careful and made me feel very comfortable with his services. They definitely deserved their tip 😊 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM AND HIS CREW TO ANYBODY LOOKING FOR A GREAT SMOOTH MOVE.

I recently moved with them for work and overall had a positive experience. The movers were organized and even helped me sort items between my apartment and the garage, since there wasn’t enough space inside for all the boxes. I was charged a little extra for the sorting time, but the driver explained it clearly and it made sense. They also took great care of my belongings, especially a glass-front cabinet that arrived without a scratch. One detail I really appreciated was the thick mattress covers they used — much better quality than the ones I had purchased at Home Depot. The crew worked hard and made the move smooth from start to finish, despite the really hot weather on both days. Based on this experience with my out-of-state move from Iowa City to Henderson, KY, I would definitely use them again.

I was especially impressed with how carefully they handled my headboard — they wrapped and protected it thoroughly, and it arrived without a single mark. That level of attention really stood out. Overall, the team was respectful, efficient, and easy to work with. They made the whole process much less stressful, and I’d recommend them to anyone looking for reliable movers.
