Very nice French restaurant with a good selection and very nice atmosphere! Ordered the beef bourguignon and American burger, and enjoyed both. The beef bourguignon was very rich, and the buttered mashed potatoes were so velvety. The American burger was very filling, the quality of beef seems better than a normal burger. Toppings on the burger were pickles, onions, and cheese. If you’re not a fan of raw onions, I’d recommend to ask them not to put them on. The fries with the burger were sooo good and crispy! The bread basket was good, a nice selection of sourdough and classic French baguette. The whipped butter didn’t have much flavor. Overall the service was great, and the food came out quickly as well! I recommend having reservations, even for a late lunch, it got crowded quickly. Parking was difficult to find, there is no dedicated parking area, expect to walk a block or two to get here. Plenty of room for wheelchair to navigate through. Great bar selection and wine list!

It was a classic, charming and lively Parisienne restaurant with beautiful and vibrant decor. The service was attentive and the food was absolutely delicious and memorable. The Steak Frites was perfectly seared and tender with rich and savory herb butter and the fries were crispy and tasty. The one pot chocolate was creamy and rich with just the amount of sweetness. They also have a good selection of delicious cocktails and wine for me to complement my meal 👍

Everything about this restaurant was amazing and worth the reservation. That great customer service, the atmosphere is beautiful along with the lighting. I did the onion soup, which was amazing, the radish salad was better than the fig salad, my steak was outstanding, I got the Demi sauce on the side, which worked out perfectly, my spinach was delicious, and also ordered crème brûlée. Definitely say yes to the bread that is freshly cut per table at the beginning of your meal, it was phenomenal. My friend got scallops and he said they were amazing.

The whole experience was stellar. Pablo was our server, and it was truly the best service we’ve had in Washington. He was knowledgeable about the menu, offered fantastic recommendations, and made our dining experience feel really special. He was attentive and quick to take care of anything we needed. We ordered the steak frites, onion soup, and steak tartare, and every dish was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back here the next time I’m in Washington.

Le Diplomate is an incredible spot for date night. It’s right on 14th Street and perfectly captures that classic European brasserie atmosphere. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for a special evening. I highly recommend the steak frites, escargot, and duck. The duck, in particular, has a subtle orangey note that’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted — rich, balanced, and memorable. We’ve also tried the artichokes before, which weren’t really my favorite, but everything else has been consistently excellent. The indoor dining room is elegant, but we’ve only ever sat outdoors, where the ambiance is just as lovely. We love this place and will definitely be back!
