Flex Factory - West Des Moines

Good strength equipment and some unique machines you don’t see everywhere. Overall it’s a solid place to work out and the gym has a good vibe—people are generally respectful and clean up after themselves. The main downside is the cardio area. The equipment is limited and older, and some machines occasionally don’t work properly or shut off randomly. There are only about five treadmills and one stair stepper, so they can fill up quickly during busy times. The locker rooms are hit or miss. The price feels high for what you get, especially given the small size of the gym and limited amenities. They have added some recovery equipment like a massage chair, which does add value if you use it. Music is hit or miss—sometimes good, but at times it’s loud enough to overpower headphones and become distracting.

I frequent the Flex Factory when I come into Des Moines for work. Will have to say it is one of best gyms I use when traveling. I travel a bunch and see a lot of different gyms. So I know what good looks like ! Great set up, easy to access, people are awesome and the place is clean! Thanks Jarrett!

I love this gym. The vibe is great. People are focused on their workouts, but also friendly and encouraging. I really like the all black aesthetic they have going on inside too. They also have tons of amazing equipment. I wish they would put up some signs for the machines without any labels on them. Some of them i had never seen at any previous gym I've been to and had to look them up or check out other people using them. I appreciate the week long membership option as I'm only in town for about a week when I'm here.

Great atmosphere and gym setting! Everyone is incredible but also hard working in there. Staff is always helpful and keeping the facility itself up to par. The manager is great.

This is a Bodybuilding gym. You can buy your day pass online and get 24/7 access with the app. $20 but it is worth it. There’s some great things here. Posing room is nice, top tier lighting all around. 3 treadmills, 2 step mills. 99% of the equipment is all one brand. This is good but can be a con of you don’t like the mechanics or tension consistency. All the equipment works. Great matching plates. Enough equipment during peak hours to not have waits for machines. It is sort of “influencer” type, as in, lots of tripods set up, but it is whats IN , at the moment. For the area, this is the best you can get. Cons: - Men’s locker room, small, not organized great. 3 people in there and it’s packed. - minimal cleaning resources for equipment - no staff/ or 1 staff
