Extra Space Storage

I spoke with Melody and she was very professional and extremely helpful in helping me purchase my storage unit. She offered great advice and assisted me with making the best decision for my needs. Melody did not treat me like I was just another customer but with respect, kindness, and as if I was her only customer. All businesses should take note of this type of professionalism. I would absolutely purchase a storage unit from them again in the near future and hopefully work with Melody or someone like her. Great Job Melody!!! She deserves a huge RAISE!!!

We have used Extra Space Storage for the past 3 1/2 years but needed to switch locations. This review is for the Florida Avenue DC location. First of all, Katrina could not have been more knowledgeable and helpful, so our first visit there was great right from the start. She took us on a tour and then helped us secure the storage unit that we wanted. Even though we are just changing locations, we had a lot of questions. She had all of the answers, and she also helped us check some information on other contract. Regarding the facility, it is clean, bright, and secure. The entry gate has the typical secure-code access like our old location, but there is then added security, with secure-code access to get into the building and then in the elevator, which will only let you access the floor your storage unit is on. So if you're looking for storage in DC, we highly recommend Extra Space Storage on Florida Avenue.

I stored items at this space for over half a year; my overall experience was good. The facilities are clean, well ventilated, don't smell, and are easy to access. The downside is that I was told different things by different employees about moving out. I didn't know my exact move out date and now I'm out over $200 because they automatically closed my account after I did move items out last minute and they didn't give me the opportunity to give them proper notice (I still could have recouped at least a little bit.) It's on me for not reading my lease to the T but when I talked to an employee on the phone about it, they were entirely unforgiving and didn't care that I'd been told conflicting information. Don't make the same mistake as me! Make sure to refer to your lease and don't go off of what the employees tell you.
