I was really wanted to love this place. The service was exceptional. We went on Sunday late lunch/early dinner. We ordered the steak fajitas and the california burrito. The burrito was huge. But the favor was lacking. The fajitas were also lacking flavor and the steak was tough. We may give it another try because it has good ratings. Maybe we just caught it on an off day.

The further north I travel, the more skeptical I am about the mexican food. Let me tell you that this carne asada plate I ordered was beyond my expectations. The rice shockingly was exactly how I would make it with mixed vegetables like peas and carrots. The beans did not have a canned flavor like they had been sitting in the Refrigerator for too long. I am not a fan of eating Nopales because as a kid I got stuck in a cactus and so I'm not really down with eating something that I know hurts a whole bunch and I have the fear of there's still being little needles in the nopales lol. But I added a bunch of salt, and these tasted great. Now to the main item in this dish was the carne asada. I did have to add some salt. But the flavor was there, and they did not do any weird fugazi stuff with the meat as some other places do to marinate their meat. I was very thankful for that. The staff was very attentive. The moment my water glass got close to being empty, they refilled it quickly. As a mexican food snob, I highly recommend this location for people who want a authentic mexican dinning experience.

I stopped by this Mexican restaurant in town and was honestly impressed. The service was super quick, which was perfect since I didn’t have a lot of time, and the prices were very affordable for the amount of food you get. Everything came out fresh and hot, and the flavors were exactly what you’d hope for—simple, satisfying, and comforting. For how cheap it was, the quality really surprised me. Portions were generous, the staff was friendly, and the whole experience was easy and stress-free. If you’re looking for a solid Mexican spot that won’t break the bank and gets your food out fast, this place is definitely worth checking out. I’ll for sure be back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five stars for El Toreado Mexican Bar & Grill! Visited El Toreado at 4521 Fleur Dr in Des Moines and had an awesome experience. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, the service was friendly and attentive, and the food came out hot and fresh. Everything tasted flavorful and made-to-order, and the portions were generous. Great spot for a relaxed meal (and a drink) without feeling rushed. If you’re in the area and want solid Mexican food with great service, El Toreado is definitely worth a stop.

The carne asada was amazing! The portion sizes were huge — some of the biggest I've ever seen. It was definitely worth the price. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Mexican food!
