TLDR: Bait and switch tactics. Poor customer service, lackluster communication, non-existent conflict resolution by management and central office specifically. Very disappointed with this company as I had hoped to build a positive professional relationship with this moving company for future moves. The only good thing about this company were the actual movers. They were fantastic, hard-working guys and easy to talk with. That's the only compliment this company will receive here. My family and I were moving ~5 minutes down the road still in Baltimore City. We reached out to three reputable companies with good service reviews. The other two companies were quoting us ~$1400 with 3 men in 4 hours; Allen and Son's quoted us $800-$1200 which sounded amazing and too good to be true (baiting). Normally, I won't bite at "advertised low prices" but gave this company a shot due to the reviews. Boy, was I in for a surprise. This move being our first with a professional company, we had a lot of questions. At first, they were responsive and eager to help us understand the process. Turns out they were more eager to get our money... The central office asked us to send a list of items we were moving via email. We wrote we had about 50 tote boxes, couch, grill, dressers, office desks etc. Gave them our address and told them we had a 3 bed 2.5 bath townhome. They calculate their prices by weight + hourly charge with a mandatory 4 hour minimum. This made sense and we were assured it could be done in that time frame with the 3 movers. We were never offered a video call tour to see the items to be moved but hey, they're the pros. The central office had told us that we could leave the items in the drawers/dressers as they will plastic wrap everything. The night before moving day, we were notified that the 3 promised movers were reduced to 2 movers per the owner's decision as they believed the move could be done with 2 guys in that 4-hour window. I questioned it that day but had my faith in the pros. I'm sure they over booked or had a more lucrative move occurring the same day. Move in day. Movers are nice guys. They do a scope of everything to confirm all items that need to be moved. First thing they say is that the weight listed on the contract seems low compared to the items being moved. Next thing they say is the dressers and drawers need to be emptied. Since the central office said I could leave it in the drawers, I now have to rush to empty the drawers and remove them with makeshift boxes- cutting into our time. Okay cool, kind of annoyed but it is what it is. Turns out the total weight was calculated about double what was stated on the contract - even the two movers said a third mover should have been assigned and asked if the office even did a video call or something. I told them they did not, and they cancelled the third mover the night before. The movers were surprised. At the end, it took 7 hrs. The cost that was shown to me was $1376, which seemed reasonable for the time. It turns out that the actual total was $1526 because they kept my initial $156 deposit and applied it towards the total cost (switch). Raised my concerns with the central office, and in short, they turned it back around on us and blamed it on us. I tried to compromise and simply requested the security deposit back. Had to chase an answer from this company. In the end, they didn't care to resolve my concerns and build the professional relationship, they only cared to keep every dollar they misleadingly earned. I do not recommend this company and will not ever work with them again.

We hired this company to help with our move from a 3-bedroom townhouse. The original plan was for three movers, but the day before, we were told only two would come since it was considered a light load. I mentioned multiple large rubbermaids, 50 tote boxes, and multiple dressers in addition to other items. No video walkthrough was offered to verify the space/items. I was hesitant but decided to trust their advice. The two movers who showed up were kind, professional, and worked really hard, though even they said a third person would have helped. There also seemed to be a bit of miscommunication — I had been told drawers could stay filled, but on moving day we were asked to empty them, which slowed things down quite a bit. The move ended up taking longer than anyone expected, costing us nearly double the quote, and when we shared our concerns afterward, the company wasn’t able to offer any adjustment. Overall, the movers themselves did a great job under the circumstances, but clearer communication and follow-through from the office team would have made the experience better.

My moving crew (led by Curtis) was very professional, respectful, careful, and efficient. Throughout the entire process they kept checking in with me to make sure the job was completed to my satisfaction. When they arrived, I was feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, but these men put me right at ease.

OUTSTANDING customer service! The movers were on time, efficient, and exceptionally professional! Our items, which came from my mother-in-law’s house, were handled with extreme care. Much thanks to the movers — Nigel, Curtis, and Marvin — for all their hard-work and tremendous customer service! I will wholeheartedly recommend Allen & Sons to my neighbors.

My property management company hired Allen & Son Moving & Storage recently, and while the moving team itself was excellent—punctual, professional, and hardworking—the overall experience was soured by how management handled an issue. Unfortunately, during the move, my TV was damaged. There were no steps taken to make sure my stuff was good before they left. The crew acknowledged the broken TV and took photos a day after it happened. I was optimistic the company would make things right. However, that’s where things fell apart. I got the runaround from the owner Mr. Allen and Ms. V about what they were going to get me. To be clear, the movers themselves did a great job and I want to give credit where it's due, but a company is only as good as how it handles problems. Unfortunately, Allen & Son failed on that front. Would I recommend them? Only if you’re comfortable gambling on nothing going wrong. Because if it does, you’re likely on your own. Mr. Allen (The Owner) was nasty and gave no grace to the fact that his company broke my TV.
