As many other one star reviews have mentioned, this is the classic bait and switch company, especially for 1st time business owners. We were made promises in our initial call and then told something different once we paid a ridiculous amount. People were promised to be available 24/7 and were not... You could not even get an appointment with someone until 5 weeks out. They offered no assistance in getting this done and ultimately we ended up needing to cancel this service because we couldn't even use it. Also, they fail to mention That out of the 3 grand you pay, auditing is NOT included and is another 250$. What a joke!! We filed a claim asking for even a partial refund and a lady called and said "well it's over thirty days so no". That was it. Didn't even care to ask about our experience so don't sit there and say you take this stuff seriously. Bunch of crooks. People BEWARE! I filed a claim with the credit company to make aware of these scammers and may take to litigation. We are FURIOUS!!

Outstanding and Transparent Professional Support My overall experience with my tax accountant representative was excellent. They provided detailed explanations of the services offered and took the time to educate me on tax responsibilities, small business management, and financial organization. Don’t be fooled by the polished sales call. Once payment is taken, the experience collapses. We prepaid nearly $3,000 for a year of services and canceled within 45 days after being cycled through three different accountants, repeatedly starting from scratch. The first accountant showed up late, camera off, asked nothing about our business, and read from a script. There was no discovery, no understanding of our company, and no real work. In effect, we paid thousands of dollars for what amounted to a single business tax return. The bookkeeping offering is also outdated and inefficient. The company states that annual services are only refundable within a 30-day cancellation window. However, this policy is unreasonable in practice, as we were not assigned to a single accountant for a continuous 30-day period. The repeated reassignment of accountants made it impossible to meaningfully evaluate the service or complete onboarding within that timeframe. Despite canceling early and in good faith, the company refused to refund the unused portion of the annual fee. This felt like a bait-and-switch. Small business owners should avoid this service.

As a small business owner, I signed up with 1-800Accountant after being assured the process would be simple: provide my bank and credit card statements, and they would handle my business and personal tax filings. The onboarding call reinforced that everything would be straightforward. Once I was fully signed up, the story changed. I was suddenly told they would not accept standard bank or credit card statements in PDF or Excel format—something every accountant I’ve ever worked with accepts. Instead, they required individual photos of every single transaction. This requirement was never disclosed at any stage before enrollment and made the service practically unusable. I had multiple calls with different advisors trying to resolve it. Each one gave me conflicting information, but the outcome was always the same: they could not do what they originally promised unless I upgraded to an additional service that cost significantly more. In other words, the only way to get the service I was sold was to pay much more than what I originally agreed to. In the end, I received no usable service at all. When I asked for a refund, they declined, citing policy—despite the fact that the issue was caused by their own undisclosed requirements and upselling practices. For other small business owners: be very careful. My experience felt like a classic bait-and-switch—promises up front, new requirements after payment, and then pressure to buy more services just to get the basics done. There are plenty of reputable accountants who are transparent, accept standard financial documents, and don’t change the rules after you sign up. I strongly recommend exploring other options before committing to this company.
