- ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥This is how I roll I am still on my roll 🔥 of sharing how I use some of my props & tools in my yoga practice, as well as FOR my yoga practice. Like in any form of exercise, sore muscles & tightness appear regularly, and then there is stress and tension from our daily lives that find their way into our bodies, leaving knots and discomfort. So rather than just waiting it out, I use this tiny roller to target areas that need releasing. I start by locating the point of muscle tightness and then roll GENTLY, just in small sections, even shifting the muscle tissue from side to side with body weight or movement. The key is to be kind with the knot but to be honest; it will not always feel kind in return. A few breaths, and then find a new place that needs some attention. 3-5 minutes of all that is necessary, and then it’s time for yoga ❤️ I also get an enormous amount of physical, mental, and emotional sense of well-being from this short process. - 🔔🔔 I promised to share how I use my yoga “tools,” so here are a few bits of a lazy weekend practice using a yoga bolster. The key is comfort for this practice, so I dress for it! 😆🌸. I then pull out my tried & true friend, the yoga bolster. There are many different sizes, densities, and shapes, but they all have firm pillow-like support. I purchased mine about 15 years ago, and I cannot imagine yoga without it. Bolsters are ideal for restorative & yin postures, as well as prenatal yoga, but I use mine whenever I need to relax & have gentle practice. This particular easy session was to unwind and open the hips and is ideal for all levels unless those who are suffering from hip problems. Like in any sport or practice, a doctor's ok is recommended. If you don't have a bolster, cushions will do in a pinch, but they often don't have the support needed, in my opinion. This tool is also excellent for back & chest opening work, as well as the pelvis.
