Wearing one of my beautiful kurtis that I got in India 🥰 When my husband told me that he doesn't hardly ever wear his traditional Indian clothes here in the states because people can be so judgmental, it made me feel so sad. When I wear my outfits that we got in India out, it's a visual love letter to my husband. It's bringing a tiny piece of his home here to St. Louis ❤️ It's so important to create a safe environment where people feel comfortable to express themselves and celebrate their beautiful cultures. As a multi-cultural family, it's extremely important to me that when we have children someday, that they grow up seeing me wearing Indian clothes and speaking Hindi (which I'm currently learning!), and cooking Indian food. By mixing aspects of my husband's culture into our daily life in the states, I'm hoping to create an environment where our future children feel comfortable and safe to wear the clothes and speak the languages and listen to the music and eat the food from both of our cultures. It's such a hope of mine for the future that people will one day learn to embrace each other for their individuality and uniqueness and that everyone will feel safe to proudly celebrate their culture and heritage. Happy Mother's Day mom! I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful mom. My sisters and I are so blessed to have a mother who loved us so much that she stayed home with us and homeschooled us. Being a homeschool mom takes a lot of sacrifice, patience, and dedication. Being homeschooled shaped me into the woman that I am today by allowing me to grow up being completely and 100% authentically myself. Being homeschooled was truly the greatest gift that my mother could ever have given me and I'll forever be thankful to her for it 🥰 My mom always nurtured our creativity with fun art projects that she came up with and she constantly sat with my sisters and I and read us books for hours upon hours when we were younger. Creativity and a love of books are definitely two of the greatest gifts that our mom gave us! ❤️ She also cooked a homemade breakfast, lunch, and dinner for us almost every day of my entire life while my sisters and I were growing up. I'm forever grateful for all of the sacrifices that my mom made for our family.
