I had strapped it like a down tube bag to my frame, to realize soon, that it touches my tire as soon as I have the suspension fork in use. I didn't stop, I just put the peanut butter in my albion.cycling bib shorts pocket😁..problem solved. My only plan was not to stop (only if I have to sleep) and I did great. I was expecting myself to get really tired soon, because I had had quite some stress the past days and didn't sleep well. . Hello from our second week in Bolivia. Finally after so long our wheels touched the ground of Salar de Uyuni. It was a magic moment and Jordi got very emotional. Only we know how much effort and hope was put in, to get here. We cycled alone listening to the crunchy salty ground and enjoying it the white open space. fairlightcycles Hello folks. Here’s my Faran 3.0 (54T), which I’m currently touring on in the Wolds for a friend’s ‘stag tour’. He’s titled it the Lincs FM Ride: From the Humber to the Wash. Steady pace, steady pints, good times with a good bunch of folks. Anyway, to the bike. In large part, it’s a parts swap from my previous winter Bracken Faran 2.5, which I posted last year. The main update (other than the frameset, of course) is that I’ve switched from a SimWorks Obento rando rack to a smaller Nitto M18. The M18 is lighter and more compact - and since I mostly used the rando rack just to support a bag, this suits me better. For this particular ride, I’ve also added a Tubus Tara low-rider rack. I’ll probably fit this for most tours going forward - and by god, the bike handles so well with front panniers! My Ti seatpost and Tune stem made their way onto my Strael 4.0, so I’ve rebuilt the Faran with a Thomson stem and post. It’s set up so that from ‘BB to bar centre’ I’ve got 10mm less reach and 10mm more stack than the Strael. Positionally, it’s perfect for long days and touring - still efficient when you want to push on, but comfy when you’re spinning steady. This bike is just so wonderfully versatile. The Carradice Super C panniers have been with me for years and they’re still going strong - waterproof and easily reproofed. Panniersu are such a good option when you want to bring a few more camping comforts or if you’re short on planning time and just want a couple of buckets to chuck things into. Jumping between the Strael and the Faran takes a few miles to recalibrate. The mid-low trail on the Faran means you need less input to initiate a turn - it’s lively, which I like. But with a front load on, it really mellows out - almost like riding the Strael, more neutral and planted. I’m such a (admittedly biased) fan of the Faran’s handling. More details on the full spec (and the ongoing headset colour deliberation) in a post on Monday. Seriously shocked when we rolled off the ferry from Sweden and onto this coastal paradise. It's DENMARK! I wasn't expecting sunshine, sailboats, and sandy beaches. I've had similar shocks in other countries I've cycled. I never imagined western China would be so ruggedly mountainous and spectacularly beautiful. Después de unos días de descanso por Divriğı, recuperamos las energías y nos encaminamos rumbo al „Dark Canyon“ o a lo criollo „Cañon oscuro“ Una ruta entre las piedras especial para disfrutar de las vistas del cañón y del rio Éufrates desde diferentes perspectivas a lo largo de casi 9km. Lo mejor de este camino para mi fue jugar con los sentidos tratando de seguir pedaleando lo más que pudiéramos en la oscuridad de los túneles sin prender la luz 😄 los paisajes antes, durante y después del cañon se pagaron con cada gota de transpiración, fue duro y valió la pena! Próximos destinos? Más montañas ⛰️🏔️ Desde hace casi 400km que venimos subiendo y bajando montañas a lo loco, acumulando metros de desnivel que a medida que pasan los días, por eso mejor tomarse 1 o 2 días de descanso de la bicicleta y concentrarse en otras cosas.. Así o así desde acá hasta la frontera con Georgia, son casi 900km de subidas y bajadas, así que mejor no alterarse y hacer pausas suficientes para disfrutar del camino y aprovechar para seguir entrenando la resistencia del cuerpo y la mente.
