I’ve got 99 problems but the gym ain’t 1 😜

Seriously tho it’s my number 1 stress reliever. This week I was feeling stressed, anxious, worried. etc with major brain fog and felt stuck with some business decisions I needed to make . Let me tell you there is no better solution than going to the gym. No matter how I may be feeling, 1 things for certain and 2 things for sure I will feel so much better, focused and clear minded after a good workout.

My fitness journey started with a birthday goal. I wanted to get in the best shape of my life for my 35th birthday. I worked a corporate job 9-5 and never did I think that fast forward 8 years later it would turn into my passion and career. There have been many ups and downs and so many setbacks but as I reflect the journey has been perfect. It has shaped me into the woman I am today with a clear understanding of what my body, mind and soul needs. When I started chasing health over aesthetics I started to see drastic results within a few months I hadn’t seen in years. ⁣

My energy, vitality, self love, self worth skyrocketed. I learned that feeling beautiful on the inside is far more important than whatever I looked on the outside. I learned that discipline and consistency with yourself is a clear representation of that self love and self confidence only comes from the promises you keep to yourself. ⁣

Let’s talk sleep and how important it is to your health and fitness goals. These pics are 24 hours apart and you can visibly see the difference. ⁣⁣

On the left I’d barely gotten 5 hours of sleep consistently over the week. I was utterly exhausted and my body was begging for rest. On the right I finally got some good sleep I would say about 8 hours. I obviously felt so much better and woke up less swollen/puffy. My abs came out to play 😝⁣⁣

The lack of sleep was affecting my mood, my appetite, mental clarity and focus. I found myself craving junk food constantly this week 😳 and I also felt a little down and depressed. ⁣⁣

This is just reminder to myself and to you that in order to function at our best, feel our best, sleep is one of the key components to our health and wellness journey. ⁣⁣

MONDAY MOTIVATION⁣

Before pic I was going through the motions prioritizing everything and everyone else but me. I thought that’s just the way things are when you’re a mom, partner and starting a business, that my needs would always come last. I was miserable, bitter and didn’t even know it! ⁣

Fast forward I’ve learned that when I fill my cup first everything else runs so much better and everything falls into place. Life got better because I had more energy to do all the things I needed to do and be all the things I needed to be. ⁣

What most people don’t talk about fitness especially for us women is how deeply emotional it can been and when I learned to tap into that side of it the weight started coming off figuratively and literally. ⁣

How can I eat like this and still stay fit?⁣

Let me explain. We all have an amount of calories we need to consume in order to lose, maintain or gain weight and as long as you stay within that range you’re ok. That doesn’t mean it’s a free for all. I only had the sandwich (550 calories/25 grams of protein) and a small black coffee (no sides no hash browns no juice). It was a big sandwich soooo good and filling! You can have it all just not all at once 😁⁣

The rest of my meals for the day were clean.  Lunch was ground turkey, rice and veggies. Dinner was a huge kale salad with lots of veggies and chicken. I had one snack which was blueberries and a boiled egg. All prepped at home. ⁣
⁣
I never ever skip any meals ESPECIALLY breakfast. Skipping meals to “save calories” for later only leads to binge eating. ⁣

It’s taken me a while to get here with lots of trial and error also building a healthy relationship with food and my body. ⁣
