I’m leading programs at The Grief House this month and It felt so right to nestle back into the cozy intentionally created space. With tea cups & blankets we remembered our bodies and gently sang from our hearts, remembering the life that flows through us even as we experience earth shattering losses. We have room for a couple more folks. You will be welcomed just as you are.

I’m excited to announce that I’ve got 2 new 75 minute classes on my teaching schedule starting this week at Dancing Dogs Yoga!! We can dive deeper, be a bit less hurried and a little more intentional. A few additional precious minutes to unlock, open up, & clarify a presence within ourselves that may very well create substantial change in how we’re showing up for the chaos & complexity of modern living. Start rearranging your schedule!! We need these practices now more than ever.

Mindful Mantra Flow
A full 75 minutes gives ample time for the depth & nourishment of this unique class. Interrupt your overburdened, scattered mind by uniting movement, postures, breath and mantra. In this class, you’ll tap into your truth & potential through sound, harnessing toning & mantra for healing & growth. This practice also includes mindful accessible flowing sequences, pranayama, meditation, & longer held restorative stretches plus Shonali’s signature song healing while you rest. Cut through conditioning and awaken your soul!

It’s Friday and I’m celebrating this video Susan, the director of the Voices of Love Threshold Choir and I made. I’m also sharing my excitement that our choir now has an Instagram Page volthresholdchoir 🎉 Thanks to our choir member, Judy, for making this a reality. Please pop over there and give us a follow.

We are stepping intentionally into sharing who we are more than ever because we want to serve our communities more.

Do you ever wonder what it would be like to step into a supported, conscious relationship with death & dying? Have you ever nurtured yourself through your fears and uncertainty in the face of grief? In this special workshop, we practice preparing the body, mind and spirit for these profound life experiences.

The Threshold Choir sings by invitation at the bedsides of the dying and offers songs, especially composed to support that journey. We are death doulas, chaplains, therapists, and end of life care providers.

In this workshop, we will lovingly engage in gentle, guided contemplations of death, your own and loved ones, and learn grounding techniques for these inevitable life experiences. You can expect breathing and guidance about nervous system regulation, soothing songs, guided meditation, silence & community connection. Your complex feelings are welcome here.

Won’t you please consider joining us?

Yoga While Grieving + Circle of Song: Living With Grief practices are a glorious pair, although they can be experienced independent of each other. 4 weeks of classes begin next Tuesday evening, 9/9. Take a look and see what you think. Just the right people always show up and then the magic unfolds. Feel free to DM if you have questions.

Yoga While Grieving
Four Tuesdays starting 9/6 at 7:00 - 7:50pm
The Grief House at Legacy Park in Decatur

These embodiment sessions acknowledge the grief which is captured in your body. Come as you are to meet yourself where you are. These practices are deeply permissive & gentle. You can expect: somatic settling practices, movement uniting breath and body, postures which gently awaken & release, longer held restorative postures for deep rest & grounding, compassion practices and finally, sacred songs & poetry which guide you to be with the truths of your losses.

Circle of Song: Living With Grief
Four Tuesdays starting 9/6 at 8:00 - 8:50pm
The Grief House at Legacy Park in Decatur

Grievers, Listeners, Singers. Anyone seeking solace, nourishment and restoration in painful times of loss. You are invited into a healing experience, to harness the power of song and ritual. Shonali Banerjee guides a Song Circle meant to nourish, soothe and align as you move through the changes & challenges of grief. You will be reminded of your humanity through songs dedicated to the natural word, to archetypal energies and to deities from various traditions. Each session compassionately invites you to come as you are. There will be opportunities to connect with the group and sing if desired and to simply listen, rest, and receive Shonali’s healing songs. Come be held by song as you grieve.

I’ve got a rare Evening Offering coming up this friday, August 1 at the new wellness space, theintownretreat , in Decatur. It’s only been a couple months, but it feels like forever since I brought out my harmonium to infuse sacred mantra and song into a grounding restful restorative yoga offering. Come check out this beautiful new wellness space, relax with me for an hour and then stroll into Decatur Square. A lovely night out.

Restorative Yoga + Song

Instructor Shonali Banerjee has been teaching breath-based accessible adaptable yoga for over 20 years. All are welcome in this practice. This practice focuses on rest, stillness, and gentle stretching, helping to soothe the nervous system, improve flexibility, and cultivate care. Using props like bolsters, blankets, and blocks, each pose is held for an extended period, giving the body permission to relax and release tension. Shonali’s song healing is a balm for the soul. She offers songs and mantras accompanied by the deep drone of the harmonium throughout the practice. No prior yoga experience is necessary—just bring an open heart and a willingness to rest and hold space for yourself and others. After class, feel free to further wind down with 15 minutes in the sauna.

Saw my Compassionate Atlanta compassionateatl and Serenity Healing serenity.healing.artsatl buddies, stocked up on plants from Trellis trellishta and ate some delicious food from the Refuge Women’s Network refugeenetwork .

The surprise highlight was discovering BBuckets bbucketsconnect , a mosquito dunk system. I decorated my own buckets and I can’t wait to annihilate a ton of mosquito larvae!

CDC Release & Grounding
Thu, Apr 24 | 6:30 a 8p | Zoom

Fellow CDC employees have reached out to the Grief House to hold space for CDC staff, HHS staff, and others in the federal family who’ve been impacted by these uncertain and turbulent times working within the US government.

We are honored to do so.

We invite all individuals impacted by the recent disruptions at the CDC and federal level to join us. This is a pay only if you can offering. During the session, you can expect some movement, breath work, song, journaling, sharing & witnessing and gentle nervous system support.

We hope you can come and let us hold space for you to express what needs to be expressed, listen and know you are not alone, and receive some support during this moment.

Sascha, co founder of the Grief House, Shonali Banerjee of Wise Ma Wellness and Kate Drummond of The Energetic Heart will be facilitating this offering. Reach out at info@griefhouse.org with any questions.

Y’all! Sascha and I just got done with an interview about The Grief House with Rose Scott from WABE!! I was very unsuccessful at not fan-girling. The piece will air on Friday 3/28 at Noon. I am really proud to be a part of this burgeoning community in Atlanta.

Sascha, thank you for daring to step into your calling, for opening the Grief House, for creating this space for people to be with their grief, where all grief is welcome.

Stay tuned! I’ll definitely be sharing more details.

And if, in the meantime time, you’re curious, come out Tuesday nights (tonight!) 7pm for Yoga While Grieving and 8pm Circle of Song: Living While Grieving or visit the Grief House website.

It’s hard to believe that the final Chantlanta Sacred Music Festival is upon us, this weekend, March 14 & 15 at Unity North Church. The Goddess Choir performs at 5pm on Saturday, 3/15. I have made offerings every year except the first. Chantlanta has absolutely shaped my life here in Atlanta. I am so grateful to the Chantlanta crew who’ve worked their butts off to bring the generous spirit of this festival to our fair city. I stand up to applaud them. ianboccio karenfirefly jai__ram__ stan_jaguarhealingarts to name just a few.

The Goddess Choir was created for Chantlanta in 2020, and do we have a spectacular set of music to present to you this year! We are honored to be performing alongside an incredible variety of sound healing artists all harnessing the power of sacred sound.

The Goddess Choir shares songs meant to be sung in community where the interweaving of parts and harmonies has the potential to break wide open our hearts, to soothe our collective souls, to acknowledge deep truths and longings for connection, freedom, forgiveness, empowerment, joy, & the divine. Through song we nourish ourselves to face the world and all of its complexities. Come sing your heart out with us.

All proceeds of the festival go to chosen charity partner, Kaleidoscope Child Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that builds schools and other critical infrastructure in some of the most poverty-stricken areas of the world.
