Currently on week 9 so a slightly overdue update. My second month on Mounjaro had its ups and downs, and lots of learning curves. Overall, I am very pleased with the progress I have made so far. The first couple of weeks I was on holiday, and let myself go a little so I actually put on 2kg. No regrets, I was eating healthily and some lovely meats. There was time for the body to adjust. It’s also the month when I introduced supplements to my Mounjaro journey. I started Hair Saviour by drveganco I think it was around week 5 or 6 and have been taking it almost daily since. I have noticed the improvement with less hair on the brush and happily taking it regularly. I’ll add more details and discount code on Stories. During weeks 7 and 8 I started having a bit of nausea and indigestion. It was when I moved up to 5mg. It was mostly yoghurt and certain foods that made me feel like that and lasted 1-2 days during week 7 and 3 days in week 8. So I started the Gut Loves supplements by thenakedpharmacy in week 8 and again, I felt they supported me immensely. An exceptional dinner and show at kibele.london last night. The set menu is great value. We opted for the sea bass with vegetables and mash and the mixed grill. Someone pinch me 💞💕💕 If you told me 6 months ago I’d fit back into this dress, that I just about managed to wear once a few years ago when I got it from Zara, I’d either sigh or burst out laughing.. Just to clear that one up 😂 This reel was in my drafts a couple of weeks now and I was so close to deleting it. I realise for many it is a sensitive topic, whether to discuss openly weight loss medication or not. For me the most sensitive topic is openly discussing assistance cos of my foot. It’s not something you see here. But having to make adjustments because or my weight and foot has been my reality for sometime now. How are these two pieces of information connected? One is the reason I had to start the other. Every time I post about my Mounjaro journey, I feel like I have to keep explaining my whys. There should be no stigma for it. I hear people say ‘oh but it could be taken by people who don’t need it.’ Well…a lot of things could 😅 But let’s not go there. I will say this: whether someone should take it or not is an issue between them and their prescriber/doctor. I think sharing experiences is important. Feeling empowered to share without judgement is also important. There are a lot of things to navigate through while on this journey. Having a voice, and a community is really important. On a different note: 4 clips in this reel. 3 video clips taken several months before I started Mounjaro and 1 was taken 6 weeks in. Can you guess which? If not, I get it. I loose slow and steady. Currently on week 8 and have lost 8kg in total. I’m not in a race. I eat well and eat healthily. If you are on the same journey, I’d love to hear how you get on. My main struggle at the moment is getting my head in the right gear for exercising. It’s permanently on reverse 🤣. A bit of a rollercoaster of emotions as I get ready to go to my first gym session in probably.. gosh… I think decade? I honestly can’t remember when was the last time I went to a gym. Trying to get some exercise into my system as I have been advised by the NHS weight loss team to help my muscles and my tendons to improve while I am on the mounjaro journey. This is not the outfit I will be wearing 😆🙈 but I managed to fit in some size 18 stuff yesterday, of which this dress was one. It’s a beautiful linen dress I got from jigsaw some 7-8 years ago and probably only wore twice.. perfect transitional piece. Feeling a mixed bag of excitement for going to our brand new community gym that opened its doors to local residents for the first time this week and also a little bit stressed and worried that this excitement won’t last as it rarely has when it comes to gym. Life on Mounjaro can be quite unpredictable at times. At the same time, it also can be very organised and predictable 🤪 I suppose life in general can be quite unpredictable. Anyway. Let me start by saying I switched from 2.5mg to 5mg dose on Mounjaro half way through month 2. Yes, Lia went off-piste. She did not follow the script. I am not suggesting this is a good thing/ a bad thing/ or even a recommendation. I am documenting my journey, and we are all different. Thank you to everyone who has been kind to me and engaged with me so far on this journey. It’s great to talk. So ten days or so ago I started thinking a lot about the 5mg and side effects that many are talking about. I also noticed that during weeks 5 and 6 my appetite and suppression were changing. I also know well that I am not in a race and this journey is one that will be long and steady and slow. This is my last hope before bariatric surgery due to my chronic foot issues. I am trying to listen to my own body and my mind and my mind was telling me you need to work this out Lia. The main reason for switching to a higher dose from week 7, which was Monday this week, was not the appetite as i feel this was suppressed enough still at week 6 on the starting dose. It was more cos I felt it was time for reasons too complicated to explain here. After careful consideration and lots of discussions with the clinical team at joinvoy I made the switch from week 7. Again, not saying this should be followed or not, and just documenting life on Mounjaro. I had not planned this change when I started Mounjaro and it certainly wasn’t even a thought until about week 5. But what I learn on this journey is that you have to take things as they come, and that there is no clear ‘one fits all’ approach. There are recommended guidelines, yes. But there are also a large number of people who deviate from them I find. Week 7 on 5mg is going very well so far. I run out of lines here so will do a separate post with more details soon. 📢Not ready for September 😆🙈 Will be hiding behind my currentbody Series 2 LED mask for the foreseeable 😅. It is, after all, working its wonders 🥰🤩 and gives me that pampering I so very desperately need. Judging by the number of Dms I got, I am not alone in being totally not ready for September and all that comes with it.. Back to work, back to school, this and that and the other that piled up during the summer months or just generally stuff that needs to get done 🙈 Let’s not forget to take a moment to breathe😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨🙌 Self care is important every month, but I find September is asking for that little bit more.
