Stopped by endirocoffee Fort Portal, such a lovely little coffee haven! The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wrapping around you is the perfect comfort in this chilly, moody Fort Portal weather.☕🌧️ 2025-07-18 22:55:33 Stopped by endiroc.. 61 +37% 0 -100%
Fort Portal welcomed me with its usual charm, and the moment I settled in, the next thought on my mind was, where am I going to eat? I was craving something calm, cozy, and comforting given that the journey there had been none of those things 😅 Naturally, I reached out to rita_amanyire, It had been a while since we’d caught up, and I knew if anyone could help me find a gem in her city, it was her. That’s how we found ourselves at Duchess

Now, you know what they say....don’t judge a book by its cover. From the outside, Duchess might not immediately catch your eye. It’s a little rough around the edges, and at first glance, you may hesitate. But step inside, and the atmosphere shifts completely. The interior is warm and inviting, softly lit with ambient lights that make you want to stay a little longer. It’s thoughtfully laid out, with several seating areas to suit your mood, whether you're on a solo retreat, a casual lunch, or catching up with a friend like I was

We decided to try their pizza. They bake it in a wood-fired oven, which immediately told me we were in for a treat. You can choose between three styles: Italian (thin crust), Bombay (thick crust), and Cheese-stuffed crust. We went with the Mexicana Chicken, Italian style. And honestly? It delivered. Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, and topped generously without overwhelming the base. The flavors were balanced, and the chicken was tender.

The service was equally commendable. The staff were attentive but not overbearing, and our food came out in good time. It's always a bonus when a place not only serves good food but also respects your time and space

Value-wise, I’d say Duchess is worth it. You get a well-made meal in a relaxed setting, and for travellers or locals looking for a reliable, cozy spot, it ticks the boxes

Big shoutout to Ritah for being my foodie guide that day. If you’re ever in Fort Portal and don’t know where to start, she’s the plug for everything travel

Have you been to Duchess before? I’d love to hear what your experience was like!

Kisubi Forest cottages are perfect for a solo reset, a meaningful catch-up with a friend, or even a small celebration in nature’s embrace

They have also carved out a modest, cozy library where you’re welcome to pick any book. Just remember to return it gently. It’s the kind of thoughtful touch that transforms a meal into an experience

Outside, the gazebos stole my heart. Draped in lush greens and flowering vines, they’re romantic, calming, and for me, the perfect writing nook. If you work remotely or journal for joy, this is your spot

Tomorrow is the last day of Kampala restaurant week, have you checked out Choate yet?

Dining at The Choate during Kampala Restaurant Week was a mix of elegance and patience. The boutique hotel at Kampala Club immediately impressed me with its stylish ambiance and thoughtfully designed space. Even the washrooms were spotless and beautifully maintained. I ordered the Tilapia Primavera for UGX 40,000, and although it took over an hour and a half to arrive, the dish was worth the wait, perfectly cooked tilapia served with creamy, flavorful pasta. The delay was frustrating, but the staff remained warm and courteous. All meals on the Kampala restaurant week menu are served with a complimentary Coca-Cola or Tusker cider, I would definitely return on a quieter day

Dining at The Choate during Kampala Restaurant Week

The Kampala Restaurant Week is ongoing (July 3rd–13th), I visited The Choate, a fairly new boutique hotel located at Kampala Club, right in the heart of the city. I’d been eyeing it for a while. Thanks to its aesthetically pleasing setup and elegant ambience, it's safe to say that it didn’t disappoint in that regard

They offered both casual (30,000 UGX) and signature dishes (40,000 UGX). I went for the Tilapia Primavera, a beautifully plated tilapia fillet served over carrot tagliatelle in a rich cream herb sauce with citrus-infused oil

Unfortunately, the food took over 1.5 hours to arrive, and this delay seemed to affect many diners. The long wait was frustrating, though the staff remained kind and helpful throughout

When the dish finally arrived, it was absolutely delicious. The tilapia was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender inside, bursting with flavour. Paired with the creamy pasta, it was rich and satisfying, maybe even a bit too filling halfway through, thanks to the indulgent sauce

The setting was warm and cozy, especially on the balcony where we sat, and I appreciated the range of seating options. As expected from a boutique hotel, the attention to design carried through to even the smallest details, including the beautiful, clean washrooms. It’s always refreshing when a restaurant or hotel carries its aesthetic consistently throughout the space

While the service was generally fair and the staff lovely, the wait time significantly impacted the experience. I plan to return on a quieter day for a better sense of their pace. Overall, despite the delay, The Choate is a great new addition to dining scene, with promising dishes and a beautiful atmosphere

Let's talk Entebbe 🥰

Stepping into Kisubi Forest Cottages feels like uncovering a well-kept secret❤️, tucked away in Entebbe, right beside Zika Forest🌳, a bird watcher’s paradise. It is a charming hideaway that effortlessly blends serenity and sustainability

From the moment you arrive, the sound of nature becomes your soundtrack, the kind that instantly makes your shoulders drop and your mind breathe 🍃

Their restaurant is an intimate, cozy space with both outdoor and indoor sitting areas that have earthy textures, handmade decor, and creative recycled art 🎨 One of the standout pieces for me was a miniature car sculpture made entirely out of bottle tops 🚗, even the coaster beneath my drink had been carefully crafted from recycled materials🥫, a small but thoughtful nod to their sustainability culture. These little details made it clear: someone here cares about the environment🍀

A small library also welcomes guests, who are encouraged to pick a book and read at their leisure, with just one gentle rule: return it as you found it 📚

What truly captivated me about this space were the gazebos 🏡 Covered in vibrant green plants and flowers💐, they felt incredibly peaceful and private 🔐 It’s the kind of spot that makes deadlines feel less daunting if you sometimes work away from the office 💫

Cleanliness? Impeccable. From the dining area to the washrooms, everything was spotless ✨️
About the menu, it ranges between Shs.15,000 and Shs.50,000, offering a variety of options. From the few visits I’ve made, I’d say the food is decent and satisfying. I would love to see them take it a notch higher to match the magic of the space itself 🙂

Where there's room for growth is the service. While the staff are friendly 😊, there were a few delays that felt avoidable, like waiting over 20 minutes for a bottled drink🫠, especially when there was only one other guest present. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s an area worth refining to elevate the overall experience👌🏾

Would I return? Absolutely.
Kisubi Forest Cottages isn’t just a place to eat, it’s a place to pause, breathe, and reconnect.

We took a trip to Kikorongo Safari Lodge, an eco-luxury lodge tucked away in Kasese. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and that’s when the adventure began

My room was right at the top, which meant I had to do a bit of hiking to get there, but the view made it all worth it. If hiking isn’t your thing, don’t worry, they also have rooms that are more accessible

The room itself was beautiful. The warm lights, wooden floors, and cozy details made it feel so homely. And the bed? Honestly, it was hard to leave every morning, but we had to... for the game drive

During the drive, the animals were a bit hard to find at first, but with some patience, we got lucky. We saw buffaloes enjoying a mud bath, elephants, warthogs, hyenas, and more

After that, we stopped by the newly renovated Equator monument before heading back to the lodge

All the meals were fresh, from the fruits to the vegetables on the side of every dish and they tasted amazing too

If you’re thinking about a peaceful and beautiful staycation, Kikorongo Safari Lodge is definitely worth adding to your list 👌🏾 2025-06-19 14:57:41 We took a t.. 87 +95% 4 -2%

Checked into Millennium Plaza Downtown Hotel and honestly, it was such a good choice! ✨

The location is super convenient, just a short drive from the airport, and from the moment I arrived, the service was outstanding. Every staff member I interacted with was so warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. 🌟

The room felt fresh, clean, and well maintained, with a cozy, timeless vibe. 🛋️ Plus, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the perfect place to recharge after a long day. 🛏️💤

Mornings started with an amazing breakfast buffet spread. Whether you’re in the mood for something hearty or light, you’re definitely covered (and the food was so tasty!). 🥐🍳

If you’re planning a trip and want a stay that combines comfort, convenience, and great service, I 100% recommend this hotel! 🙌

Easter Saturday Recap

This was my first Easter weekend in Kampala in like forever! and honestly, I had no idea what to even do

So, we decided to keep it simple and nostalgic by catching a movie at Metroplex Naalya, the big screen always hits different

Since my date was too young for Sinners, we watched King of Kings instead, a beautifully done animation that tells the story of crucifixion in a fun, engaging way. Perfect timing for Easter, and we genuinely enjoyed it. Meanwhile, my siblings went for Sinners and came out with goosebumps and a 10/10 review!

Now let’s talk snacks;

Caramel popcorn goes for 10k, cheese & butter for 8k, and the classic salted is 6k. Plenty of goodies at the counter, so you can stock up on your favorites

Century cinemax has information on their page and also very easy to contact incase of any inquiries

Pro tip: double-check if your movie is in 2D or 3D so you don’t forget your reusable 3D glasses!

The whole experience? Comfy seats, crystal-clear screen, and spot-on timekeeping. Metroplex still delivers that cinematic magic

Let’s start from the top: I flew with FlyDubai. Now, I’d heard quite a few not-so-great things about it, so I braced myself but honestly, it wasn’t bad at all for me. You do have to either pre-pay for your meal with your ticket or buy it onboard, so keep that in mind. I managed to snag a window seat at check-in( because I always do an early check in if provided) and from there… the rest was history

Food-wise, we were served a mini bottle of water, a vanilla cake dessert, a small salad, bread, and chicken noodles. Everything was just okay, nothing to write home about, but it did the job. Entertainment on board is paid (and pretty outdated), but that didn’t bother me too much, i settled with viewing the map and seeing how far we had flown 😌 The service overall? Decent and functional.

We landed through a different terminal, so there wasn’t much of a scenic welcome. However, if it’s your first time in Dubai, you’ll likely be handed a free sim card with 1GB of data, valid for 24 hours from activation, super handy for navigating those first hours.

Once you’re out of the airport, you can use data roaming if needed. A few apps I would recommend downloading:

• Careem – for easy and reliable taxi rides( though I didn't use it a lot, I hoped onto the the yellow and red taxis most of the time)

• Botim – your new go-to for voice and video calls (basically, your Dubai WhatsApp)

• The Dubai Mall app – because getting lost in that mall? As easy as ABC 😅

As mentioned in my previous posts, this was a short trip so if there is more you can recommend, kindly share below in the comments, we're here to pick a leaf or two ♥️ because for dubai one trip is never enough 😅

Escape Lounge is tucked along Kigo Road in Lubowa, a beautiful spot and honestly, a breath of fresh air for us Entebbe dwellers. It’s one of those places you notice right away because it’s literally by the roadside

Inside, the setup is cozy and versatile. There’s an indoor restaurant with booth seating that’s perfect for groups catching up, and a regular dining setup if you’re just popping in for a quiet meal. Becky went for the pepper steak, medium well, paired with mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce. She said it was tasty, flavourful and satisfying. I went with the fish fingers and a side salad. Now, the tartar sauce had to be requested (small hiccup there), but once it arrived....Totally worth the wait. The fish fingers had that golden crunch you hope for, and were seasoned just right 👌🏾

Now, let’s talk drinks. A bit of a miss. They were beautifully garnished, very Instagram-worthy, but the taste didn’t quite hit the mark. Something was slightly off. Maybe it was just an off day, hopefully next time they’ll bounce back

Service? Solid. The staff were attentive, and overall, the experience felt easy and relaxed. Pricing is also reasonable for a spot like this with meals ranging from Shs. 26,000 to Shs. 90,000 (shared platters included), which is quite fair when compared to similar lounges

If you're looking for a mid-week escape to get some work done or have a quiet lunch, this is definitely a good pick. It’s calm during the week, with ample parking both inside and outside, which is always a plus

Final verdict? A lovely space with great food, decent service, and a few things to work on like the drinks. But I’ll definitely be back

I’ve held back from sharing this content because my Dubai trip last June was random, brief, and far from the “do-it-all” kind of getaway. I was there for a very short time, did what I felt like, when I felt like, and honestly it felt too little to post about

But today, I’m choosing to shake off the imposter syndrome and embrace the magic in my short adventure 🤗 Because even in that tiny window of time, I had a blast ✨️and maybe, just maybe, someone out there will pick a leaf or two from my little escape ♥️

When it comes to food, Aleph brings its A game, no doubt about that. You know the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words”? Well, here you go. No further comment needed, the photo speaks volumes( swipe left for a close up)

I genuinely love that their dishes come perfectly paired; you don’t have to overthink the sides, and the salad? Let’s just say, they don’t just toss in a random tomato and onion 🤗 they go all out with the dressing and presentation, now that kind of effort deserves a shoutout!

The ambiance? easily one of my favorites. There’s a calmness to the space that keeps pulling me back, the fresh breeze, the open layout, it just feels right

So next time you’re thinking work date or a casual catch-up with a friend, this should be top of your list. Their menu is wide and well-organized, and I appreciate that they offer actual vegan options beyond just salads. Whether you’re on a diet or just mindful about what you eat, Aleph’s got you covered

I had always spotted Donel's Bistro but never really considered going there until I saw Vicky’s review (find_your_nosh)

From the outside, you’d never guess how spacious it is inside, there are several sitting areas, which was a pleasant surprise

Vicky went for the pork chops(after a little convincing to steer her away from steak😊) and they were amazing, great portions for the price, and the flavor delivered

My food took some time(almost an hour) and we shared Vicky's meal in the mean time...

I had originally ordered the fish fillet, but it wasn’t available😭, so I went with the chicken stir fry instead, it was decent, though a little too saucy for the side I picked (we agreed it would’ve paired better with rice or mashed potatoes)

The service was impressive, I called ahead and the gentleman who answered was super helpful, answering all my questions with patience. I was even more pleased to find that the in-person service matched the same energy 💯

The menu is affordable, with meals ranging from Shs.26,000 to Shs.36,000, and drinks between Shs.3,000 and Shs.30,000.

You’ll find Donel’s in Ntinda, almost directly opposite Capital Shoppers, Parking is limited but available

I remember when Numba first opened i was eager to check it out! But then I realized it was in Kabale, a place I had never been, more than 400km away. Just like that, I tucked it away in my “one-day” list, waiting for the moment I’d finally find myself there

And as fate would have it, three years later, I did. I finally stepped into Numba Café, and it was everything I had hoped for. From the moment I arrived, the customer service was impeccable

After checking in, I liked how spacious and cozy my room was, verything was neat, and the art pieces on the walls added a unique touch to each room

You know how time flies? Before I knew it, it was dinner time, I ordered for a quarter chicken with fries, the fries? Perfectly done, the chicken? Not quite on the same level, but still okay. My drink of choice was the Barista Frappe, and it was absolutely delicious

One thing that stood out throughout my stay was the staff, everyone was warm, helpful, and genuinely great at what they do

So go ahead and save this post for that one time you find yourself in Kabale because now you know exactly where to dine and stay! 🤗♥️

Sometime last year, while cruising down Entebbe Road, I got the shock of my life!!! (Okay, maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but still!) One of my favorite spots had vanished into thin air 😭 (The audacity!) I had to double-check (you know that moment of denial), but yep, it was gone.

So, imagine my pure joy when I found out that Republique Kampala didn’t disappear, it was still within proper reach after relocating to Lubowa, Kigo Road!

Of course, I had to check it out, and let me tell you, the space is serene, beautiful, and gave me that “finally reunited with my long-lost fave” kind of feeling.

I had a pineapple and mint juice, which was refreshing, tasty, and yes, as minty as expected. Can’t wait to go back! 💃🏽
