Footwork is great, but I also love to find other ways to prime the body for my Reformer Pilates routines. There are three things I like to focus on building with my beginner Pilates clients
1) lumbar/pelvic stability 
2) core control
3) spinal flexion to engage your core
l love these moves that touch on all three differently.

I always make time when I travel to check out the local’s favorite Pilates studios! Here are few tips when taking class in a language that you aren’t fluent in:

1) Don’t be entitled and expect the instructor to translate for you…even if they are fluent in English. It’s hard enough to teach in one language let alone two!
2) Position yourself in the very back corner so you can see the whole class for some visual cues 
3) If possible, at least know the colors in that language so you can follow spring changes. 
4) Try to pick an off-peak class times. You will have a better chance of the instructor being able to demo on an empty machine
5) I would only recommend if you are somewhat advanced in your Pilates practice. That way the instructor will just help you with adjustments vs. teaching you the moves/alignment etc. 2025-06-03 21:53:15 I always make t.. 0 -100% 7 +39%

Classical vs Contemporary will always be a hot topic in the industry. Frankly I have no interest in arguing about it but I will share how they work together in my approach as an instructor.

My favorite way to create class flows/layers is using the classical repertoire as a base to build off of. For me, I see what Joseph Pilates created as a framework of sorts. A framework where I get to apply all of the hours I have dedicated to deepening my understanding of biomechanics, exercise science and anatomy to create the best outcomes for my clients.

I love teaching creative yet effective flows rooted in exercise principles.

HAVE to choose a side. You have free will, teach whatever makes you happy. There is value and demand for both styles.
