Happy National Doughnut Day! I feel it is only right to showcase a black owned doughnut shop today. sublimedoughnuts has 2 locations in Atlanta and was started in 2008 by Chef Kamal Grant. This particular doughnut was created by my sisters wewantimanisfood and theatlantafoodbae at a yelpatlanta Black History Month event. All proceeds today will go towards a donation to NAACP and they are open 24 hours. Get your late night fix! Doughnut 🍩

In these crazy times I think we are all seeking comfort and solace. I had the privilege of trying delavasnacks and they provided exactly that feeling. They are trying to change people’s perceptions of baklava while still providing that sweet and comforting feeling- without any preservatives or hormones. The buttery flaky sweet taste of their baklava is so well balanced it is the perfect combination of sweet and savory. I actually couldn’t stop eating it (thankfully they sent a bunch). Make sure to check them out! 2020-05-31 20:42:23 In these crazy times .. 105 -40% 8 -77%
Allow me to reintroduce myself 🎶 I can’t think of a better time to re-introduce myself as I literally have nothing but time on my hands, & also bc I recently made the amazing milestone of 1400 followers 🙌🏾

I am Bridgette and I started what.bridge.eats last summer to showcase what I am eating, primarily in the Atlanta area. As the page has evolved, I enjoy helping promote local restaurants, both new and hidden gems.
•
When I’m not eating (which isn’t often), I am a dentist, finishing up the last steps in a 11-12 year journey to become and orthodontist 😬

My favorite thing about being a foodie is, by far, the amazing, beautiful, and interesting people that I have met along the way. There are some beautiful folks out here that I likely wouldn’t have met otherwise, and so I am very very grateful for all of the awesome friends I have made through this outlet.
•
I am originally from NC and have moved back and forth for the last 12, but I’ve been in Atlanta most recently for about 3 years. I have a hubby who really helped foster my love for food (and who also is AMAZING in the kitchen), a 10 year old Morkie named Jinger Pearl and I love Jesus, my family, my friends and Atlanta United Soccer 🖤

I am so happy to see that the cocktail scene is growing in Atlanta. My girl rockinrhinobitez invited me to foxtrotbaratl and let me be the first to say that it is a WHOLE vibe. They have the smoothest neo-soul jams playing in the background while you consume uniquely craft cocktails with delicious bites and exceptional service. I was actually impressed that they made the first mezcal drink that I really enjoyed. Another drink, the 24 Karrots had a lemon and thyme cordial and went down so smoothly. They also introduced me to charred grapefruit in a gin cocktail 😍 and made countertop s’mores for the group. This would be the perfect date spot or a nice place to become a regular. The atmosphere is supreme. Thanks for having us foxtrotbaratl! 2020-03-12 20:46:48 I am so happy to see.. 182 +3% 44 +24%
Loving my new oven mitt from _litmitts. The kitchen isn’t necessarily a place where I spend a lot of time 🤷🏾‍♀️, so I thought it would be nice to honor the person who is better acquainted with it... my husband. This mitt is awesome, great quality, and makes us smile every time we see it. _litmitts offers a variety of different backgrounds and you can get any photo printed on it to customize. If you want to check it out, use my code BRIDGE20 To get 20% off you mit. Now off to get some pizza...🍕

Visited a cute new Buckhead restaurant called Lily White with my husband this week. They showcase mediterranean/persian cuisine with most of the recipes coming from the owners mother. I would have loved to grow up in his household because everything was so very good. This was my first time trying lamb shank and I was so impressed. It was prepared to literally fall off the bone and was infused with savory mediterranean flavors. The service was great and the location even doubles as a hookah bar at night. Great addition to the Buckhead community. Thanks lilywhiteatl and kitsyrosepr for having me! #hosted

I had a late Valentines treat of being invited to beardpapacafe to try out their Japanese Cream Puffs. I must admit that I didn’t know much about them, but the manager Feifan was wonderful in explaining the history. Cream puffs are a very popular treat in Asia, and like donuts, it is customary to bring them to celebrations and events. There are over 350 beardpapas locations in Asia and they are also becoming more popular in the US. The texture is like a flaky hollow pastry shell with a custard filling 😍 They aren’t too sweet, but are still extremely satisfying. I tried an assortment of flavors which were all super tasty, but my favorite was the strawberry cheesecake with strawberry filling. This is the perfect way to satisfy your sweet 🦷 without going overboard on sugar. There are locations in Sandy Spring and Peachtree Corners so make sure to check them out. Thanks beardpapacafe and beardpapas for the hospitality and for broadening my food horizons! 🧁🧁🧁

We had the best experience at Red Ash in Austin. My friends and I walked in with no reservation and they went out of their way to accommodate us. We even met the owner. Everything was incredible, from the food to the service, but this Red Snapper Crudo took the cake. It was colorful, fresh and flavorful. Thanks to the team at Red Ash for taking such care of us! 🐠🥗🐟⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I love cute hotels and The Line hotel in Austin was one of the cutest. Their P6 bar has great views of the Colorado River and Austin skyline. Want a good craft cocktail? This is your place. They have great lounging spaces and tables which can suit whatever you mood may be in. This drink is their take on a margarita, the Freetail with a house made sweet/sour. Austin had a great energy and this bar was the perfect place to feel all of the wonderful Austin vibes 🍹🥂🍸⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Austin Chronicles. There was so much ambiance and charm in Austin. We ate this Cochinita Pibil at a sexy indoor/outdoor modern Mexican restaurant called Comedor in downtown Austin. Everything was presented so beautifully and the setting made it that much more delicious.

I can’t think of a better way to break the Whole 30 fast than by eating my favorite, bartacolife. I tried to keep it healthier by getting all of my tacos wrapped in lettuce. They were still delicious. We even tried out their “secret” chilli lime shrimp taco, which is incredible but definitely has a kick. I also finally tried the pork belly taco and clearly I have been missing out. Everything was delicious and I definitely recommend making a trip to try out the secret taco before it’s gone! 🌮🍤🥬

In the home stretch of Whole 30 and grateful to have made it this far. Although smoothies aren’t recommended, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do while you are on the go. This Pink Drink smoothie was a refreshing treat. In light of yesterday’s devastating news, I’m wishing love and light to everyone. Love a little harder, express a little more gratitude and live every day like it’s your last. Peace be with you ✌🏾

So far the key to Whole 30 has been meal prepping. If the food is ready to go and accessible it is SO much easier to eat it. But this week, we had some challenges with our meal prep so I had to eat on the go. I went to my beloved pokebar because I knew it would be easy to control what I was eating. My Poke preparer was SO nice and even allowed me to use my own coconut aminos in my bowl, so it was perfect. If I had one tip for those working on Whole 30, it’s make sure to carry a bottle (or travel size packets) of coconut aminos with you, and you won’t miss a beat. (Also, stay away from the wasabi and ginger 🙅🏾‍♀️). Happy Saturday Folks! 🥙🐟🍣

I’ve successfully completed half of Whole 30! It hasn’t been TOOO much of a challenge, but I’ve been consistent in my strategy of meal prepping and eating at home. Now that I’m in the habit, I ventured out last night to have dinner with a beautiful friend of mine, the_instylist. We went to Flowerchild, and to my surprise, they had a special Whole 30 (Whole 31 as they called it 🤷🏾‍♀️) Massaman Beef Curry Pot Roast Bowl on their menu. It was spicy and flavorful. There were tons of veggies so it was very filling and satisfying and it was served over delicious cauliflower rice. Its so helpful to have restaurants who are catering to their patrons specific dietary needs, and even better to have supportive friends. More Whole 30 bites to come! 🍛🌶🥕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Morning Meditation. One of my goals this year is to meditate and do more yoga, along with eating more whole foods and focusing on my health. I began the Whole 30 on January 2 ( had a few too many NYE leftovers on Jan 1 😂) and have been enjoying eating cleaner, while eliminating sugar, dairy, gluten, soy, grains, processed foods and ALCOHOL from my diet for 30 days. The rest of my January posts will focus on meals that fit within the boundaries, but come February I’ll be back to showcasing all of the things 🍎🍗🥚

I finally got the chance to check our Crab 404 after having their delicious lobster roll at the tasteofatlanta. I recently have fallen in love with crab fingers so I had that as an app and these were absolutely delicious. The crab meat was complemented with shrimp in a delicious sauce that I literally could eat with a spoon. The lobster roll was exquisite (as I expected) and what I really loved about it was that they served the butter on the side so you could add as much as you wanted, depending on your preference level and how healthy you wanted to be. The GM was super friendly and overall it was a great experience 🦀 🦀 🦀 •

IMHO, there is no better way to spend your holiday break than eating delicious brunches. Visited my favorite Little Rey El Carbon and tried their Huevos Rancheros. So many of my favorite breakfast dishes are Latin inspired. This was very tasty, with a perfect runny egg and lots of yummy sauce. To wash it down I had a grapefruit margarita AND hibiscus water 🙃 Happy New Year loves and here’s to having great brunches in 2020 🌺 🍳 🍹

What a year. About 6 months ago I started what.bridge.eats after 18 months of coming up with excuses not to. Much to my surprise, people are actually interested in what I’m eating 🤷🏾‍♀️. I have learned so much about restaurant and food culture, the Atlanta foodie scene and also what it takes to run a business Instagram account. I have also made so many wonderful foodie friends in the process. A special thank you to my mentor heyjnicole for leading the way. Thank you all for following along and for the outpouring of love and support that you have shown. Looking forward to 2020 and continuing to grow what.bridge.eats

Only because this deserves its own post (and who doesn’t love a good neon sign?!). As a kid there was nothing better than having a lunchable with a Capri Sun. Well The Pirates Boil has recreated theCapri sun and none other than..alcohol. This flavor, The Whatever, tastes exactly like the real thing. The base is made from a Korean rice wine, Soju. It’s not too sweet but has captured all of the best parts of a Capri Sun. Plus, it comes with a fun light on the inside of the pouch. I’ve been craving it all week and can’t wait to go back to have another one! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When I think of a good celebration, I think of a crab boil (maybe I’m Cajun in a former life 🤷🏾‍♀️). It was only natural to try out the recently opened, Pirates Boil. In a city with so many seafood boil choices, I am always looking for something different. I found it. They offer special flavors like my new favorite, lemon pepper, and their seafood IS 👏🏾NOT👏🏾SALTY. I can’t emphasize how refreshing it is to eat crab legs without my shoes and rings getting tight. Anywhoo they have a great variety, and I recommend the Treasure Chest which is just the right amount for a filling dinner. Hop on over folks 🦀 🌽 🥔 . #hosted, but honestly good af⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Breakfast burritos have a special place in my 🖤 , and this one was definitely special. Found this burrito at First Watch and it met allll of my needs. It had carnitas, eggs, potatoes, beans, avocado, sauce, cheese, literally everything that you could ever want 😍 I also had the lemon ricotta pancakes and those are a game changer. Had the privilege to taste some dishes from chefpano ‘s new cookbook Modern Greek Cooking at Kyma this week. This meal y’all..this meal 😍. I can’t really put into words how good it was. I’ve always loved Kyma but this meal intensified that feeling 10fold. If you know me you know i LOVE poké. I eat it all the time and I’m always in search of a new poké restaurant to visit. lemonsharkpokesandysprings invited us to give their poké a try and we were blown away. Everything tastes incredibly fresh. They have a great variety of bases (including black forbidden rice 😍), an assortment of proteins and toppings, and an extensive list of sauces. Seriously y’all, the sauce list is un-matched. They also offer warm bowls, pokerritos and small hot dishes like crispy tuna rice and egg rolls. Also, they have self serve wine and beer station. Need I say more? 🖤 thanks to Lemonsharksandysprings for having us and we will be adding this to the poké rotation. You should too! 🐟

I can’t get enough Ponko Chicken, but luckily, they have opened a location in Buckhead on Roswell Rd. Although smaller than the midtown location, the food is still the same good ol Ponko Chicken that we all know and love. I visited last night with some friends (thanks atlantabestbites) and was impressed with both the layout and the service at the location. They are having their grand opening on Dec 14 at 11am, and the first 50 people in line will get a free meal. Make sure to stop by if you are in the area to welcome them to the Buckhead neighborhood 🍗🌮🐔
