Sometimes more means less. Trying to slam a project with everybody working on top of each other often does not make things go faster. I’ve walked onto the many job sites and seen things done out of sequence and trying to pile on a lot of trades at one time but having a guy sanding drywall in an area where a guy is painting is not going to get you the bestPaint job and result. And know there’s exceptions to everything but in an ideal world each trade is getting their job done in preparation for the next trade to come in. I know it might be a big job site and often you can have an electrician working upstairs while the plumber is downstairs, etc. but I often times see trades working in the same room and getting in each other‘s way 2025-08-29 21:00:15 Sometimes more mean.. 54 -61% 10 -47%

When it goes wrong…some of us do find those bad apples and get in a situation with a less than helpful company. Here’s one thing you can do if you need some leverage. Thanks to popaconstruction and sofiabetz.prosource for the advice and help on this one. To be clear, Costco did not sell or do the floors. The un-named vendor was part of their “network” and not otherwise affiliated with Costco. 2025-08-21 03:41:04 When it goes wron.. 154 +10% 20 +5%

The infamous White Oak finish. I get asked for this ALL THE TIME. It’s a tough finish. We are always tweaking and fine tuning with different products. White oak varies a lot in tone and it keeps us always messing with it. So, I don’t have a one and done solution. We use a combo of products in the finishing shop and that takes years of experience and trial and error to make work. It isn’t something I can easily share. However, there is a product anyone can get that is great for doors, mantles, shelves etc. minwaxusa Polycrylic Crystal Clear Top coat in matte finish can get you to that covered “raw” looking white oak finish. Give it a try and let me know what you think👍🏻 2025-08-07 23:57:05 The infam.. 583 +318% 49 +158%
🚨CONTROVERSIAL- Outlets in backsplashes. I’ve talked about this before and generally I prefer the outlets in the backsplashes, from a function standpoint. The 22system outlets are a nice way to tuck some power in there and be more sleek. These are on a job we are doing and you can see them in stone and in wood. 👍🏻 2025-08-06 02:29:09 🚨CONTROVERSIAL.. 77 -45% 13 -31%
Air BNB FAIL Reaction. These could be a fun new series. A follower sent me a series of Air BNB gold from their recent stay. It’s time I got something off my chest…I don’t always shop at “high-end” boutique stores. I know I am all “custom” and stuff but sometimes I shop at flooranddecor That is usually where I get butcher block and is a good spot for finding tile. For years I refused to go, chalking it up to being like Home Depot. I came to find I was wrong. They have a great return policy too which makes it easy to bring back overage. There, I said it. Please forgive me, but also, maybe stop in and see what they have for your project. (Not sponsored…maybe should be😜) 2025-08-02 20:20:56 It’s t.. 103 -26% 29 +53%

Stop being so scared of using natural stone! If you want it, you should have it. Engineered stone can’t touch the beauty of real stone. I’ve had clients ruin engineered quartz. So, I say go for what Mother Nature gave us! I usually go for a honed or leathered finish which hides more of the etching. If you are really scared you could use a protective film like tuffskin_surfaceprotection (not sponsored). 2025-07-31 01:18:41 Stop being so scared .. 378 +171% 55 +190%

There was a good lesson illustrated at this Airbnb I recently stayed at in Saint Augustine, Florida. It’s easy to get hyper focused on all of the minute details and get hung up in your budget and quality of finishes, etc. but this Airbnb shows a great example of keeping your eye on the overall vision and working parts and pieces in around that to get you to that desired vibe. Rate this Air BNB kitchen nook 1-10. Stayed here this week. I thought they did a nice job putting this together.
