still reminiscing about being one of the only two creators from 🍁 to be invited to SVR Academy in Paris last week!

We spent two days learning all about skin conditions like eczema and acne (both things close to me), talking about the most popular products in France, learning from dermatologists, endocrinologists, and experts in many fields, and getting a behind the scenes tour of the lab (where all the magic happens) and the packaging facility!

A huge thank you to the laboratoiresvrca laboratoire_svr team for answering all my MANY tough questions.

Lots more excitement to come! If you’ve tried this brand let me know below 🩷 2025-09-19 04:03:13 still reminiscing.. 0 - 28 +3%
Buyer beware: Even sharing a true negative experience could lead to legal trouble. I’m working on a post about how to navigate this, but I highly recommend doing extreme due diligence on any place you’re visiting.

Did you know?

Some quick things I’ve uncovered in my research (full guide to follow):

1. Depending on what you’re looking to do, find large international/accredited hospitals and clinics that are well regarded. (The Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) and Medical Korea provide lists of vetted hospitals and clinics for medical tourism), the website is worth checking out and was in English.

2. Be wary of many of the “insta famous” places that are overly promotional or “factory” like in their approach. Not saying these are all bad, just to be overly cautious about places that are bringing in many influencers and offering them free treatments in exchange for content.

3. Since it can be hard to find honest experiences and negative reviews, try to look at unlikely places like Expat groups online and on Reddit (my fave place!)

4. Insist on transparency in the doctor’s credentials and cross reference this if you can.

I am working with my friends in Seoul to make a full guide for you - so stay tuned, and if you have tips please let us know below.

I want to gatekeep this product SO badly, but I just can’t. It’s SOO good. I’ve been DESPERATELY searching for an eye cream that soothes my eczema, doesn’t sting, and doesn’t make it worse after a few days, and I’ve FINALLY found it. I want everyone to know about this because I know the struggle is real.

This is the atoderm intensive eye cream from Bioderma and the value is incredible - the tube is massive, and it can be used as a makeup remover as well. I don’t know any product that compares for me rn. I like to use it under my Dieux Skin eye patches when my eczema is particularly bad.

Highly recommend if you’re suffering with this like I am and want to avoid steroid use.

Is this just a money grab? I think if they really wanted to be “innovative” they could have made it a product with a silicone interior to help with product absorption like the Dieux eye patches or the Experiment face mask, but even then, I just don’t see the point of this? What do you think?

RETINOL STARTER PACK ⬇️ Let’s talk about one of my favourite products for reducing acne, helping prevent premature aging, and helping manage hyperpigmentation, retinoids!

One of the most popular and PROVEN skincare ingredients, but do you know what makes them so great, and did you know there are many different types of retinoids to choose from? Not all of them are going to cause your skin to peel/freak out!

They are one of the few skincare products that you can visibly see results quite quickly (but everyone is different) so as always, patience is key here!

A quick history: Retinoids refer to the umbrella term for all Vitamin A derivatives, with pure Vitamin A (Tretinoin) being the strongest. The others in the retinoid family go through “conversions” on the skin to convert to Vitamin A, the more conversions, the less irritating (formula dependent!).

So, how do you incorporate retinoids properly and when is it time to just give up on them? Follow along for our series and read the tips below!

💫CORE ROUTINE:
Step 1: pick your cleanser
Step 2: pick your retinoid
Step 3: pick your moisturizer
Step 4: pick your sunscreen (most important)

The key to a great routine is keeping it simple. When it comes to retinoids, you want to ensure you have a great, gentle cleanser, a good moisturizer, and a whole lot of sunscreen.

If you are shopping for OTC (over-the-counter) retinoid products (like Retinol/Retinal), I always recommend starting with the weakest and working your way up (if that is your preference).

Everyone wants to jump to the strongest possible product because they think it will yield the best results. This is so far from the truth. What it will do is cause a storm of irritation, which will either result in you swearing off retinoids all-together, or suffering through a ton of irritation.

Start low and go slow! Build your way up. You will see results from lower %’s and remember, formula is queen! A product that works amazing for one person might not work for you. Skincare involves trial and error.

Do you use retinoids? Yes or no? 2025-08-02 01:25:09 RETINOL ST.. 0 - 26 -4%

no one remembers that last one! DID YOU KNOW? The skin on your eyelids is the thinnest and most sensitive, which means it’s more likely to be impacted by triggers like the following:

1. Your gel or acrylic nails! Why? You might be sensitive chemicals like acrylates which can trigger your eyes to react. We don’t realize but some people can unconsciously touch their eyes up to 200 times per day! I found I’m also sensitive to the glue in take home nail kits.

2. Your makeup: be it shadows, mascara, eye liners, eye brow fillers, or foundations - all of these can have ingredients that can trigger a reaction in some. It’s hard to pin point what is is, so make sure you’re at minimum using non expired products, and clean brushes when applying.

3. If your eyes are sensitive, look at your skincare. Are you being careful not to apply products around the thin eyelids or eye area? Tret should not be applied to the eye lids, same for many other actives. Be cautious that your skincare isn’t spreading into your always.

4. Shampoo and conditioners are always culprits for me. Be cautious when washing them out to make sure they’re not falling onto your face! Either wash your hair over the sink or make sure you’re leaning back!

5. Laundry detergents can be so troublesome! Especially the super fragrant ones. Either switch to free and clear, or do a few rinses (or use less detergent!).

There are many more but these are some of the more common ones. If you’re looking for eye creams for dermatitis see my recent guide.

Do you deal with this? What triggers you? If you’re struggling with dermatitis, these could be the culprits! 2025-07-31 02:15:02 no on.. 0 - 10 -63%

My FAVE combo for this 🪄 ! Do you struggle to? And swipe to the last slide for a little surprise (I asked some of my derm friends and some of you for your top picks and these came up the most frequently).

Quick note: 🗒️

I try to avoid steroids when I have eczema because it’s often an absolute last resort. If you do end up using them remember to follow the instructions clearly and never use them for more than 7 days (for the one above by polysporin)

make sure you buy the authentic one & add Marseille Soap to your souvenirs list if you are visiting France, especially Marseille. On my last trip I was told that this region of France was famous for their soap making, and they didn’t disappoint. I was told you need to make sure you’re buying authentic ones, so my hotel did recommend a local shop which had a soap making factory in the back!

I don’t know the history of soap, and in my previous post, many mentioned this originally comes from the Middle East - which is very cool! I would love to try Aleppo soap - so if you have any reccos on where to buy it, let me know in the comments!

no $$$ is worth shilling a product I don’t believe in 💯 Let’s get a little vulnerable here: I’ll never forget saving my money to buy the Sunday Riley serum for my acne prone skin, only to find out that they were faking their reviews. I felt so betrayed: by the brand, by the people talking about it, by myself for believing it. I’ve never forgiven the brand.

I’ve been a part time creator for 5 years now, all while keeping my 9-5 job in marketing / finance. I’ve always gone back and forth on the idea of doing content full time, but this industry is fast paced, unpredictable, and I never wanted to be in a situation where I need to “sell” a product to pay my mortgage. I also acknowledged that I’m in a privileged position to even have that option, but most people only see the ads, and rarely do we talk about the deals we didn’t take.

I’ve always felt a sense of duty when promoting anything especially around skincare, because I know what it feels like to go through it all: acne, rosacea, eczema, atopic dermatitis, irritant dermatitis. I’ve tried my best to work with brands I like and products I love! That doesn’t mean what works for me will always work for you, but it is a criteria I try to live by.

I also always remind myself why I started this, it was to talk about skin issues and to feel less alone. To talk about products because it’s truly my passion. To connect with likeminded people. That’s it.

If you’ve ever struggled with your skin, welcome to my page! If you’re a content creator just starting out and you have questions, my DMs are always open!

Your top picks for soothing, eczema- and dermatitis-friendly eye creams are in! I asked you in my stories and SO many of you gave your recommendations. I had to filter through so many, and I didn’t have enough slides for all of them. I did my best to pick the ones that came up the most. Some of these aren’t “eye creams” but since they were mentioned so often (vaseline, cicaplast, topicals), I felt they needed to be included.

How to deal with dermatitis / eczema on the eye lids:

First, be super gentle with that area. Avoid any harsh scrubs, products, or anything that could cause irritation.I also avoid fragrance at this time.

Second, keep the area clean, and constantly hydrate with a gentle product - I use vaseline or colloidal oatmeal, until the rash goes down.

Third, wait for the rash to completely go away before introducing other eye creams again.

If the irritation is unresponsive to this and/or getting worse, you may need to see a doctor for a prescription cream. Elidel or Protopic are popular alternatives to steroids. I personally avoid steroids on my eye lids because the skin is SO thin already, so it isn’t worth the risk for me.

Important Tips:

Patch test any new product before applying.

Try not to touch the eyes and definitely try not to rub or itch (hard I know).

Keep an eye out for under the radar triggers - check out my story highlight “eczema”.

Not all eye creams can be used on the eye lid, as I’ve learned recently while struggling with my outbreak. Keep that in mind when shopping for skincare dedicated to the eye area.

Do NOT leave Japan without buying a pack of these steam masks! They’re amazing for plane rides, train rides, car rides, or before bedtime (especially if you’re prone to headaches).

I love the lavender scent, but there are lots to pick from. They can be purchased in big packs of 12+ masks and each one lasts for over a hour or more. To make it last longer and really concentrate the heat, I put an eye mask on top!

They’re from the brand KAO and it’s probably my fave Japanese product because it’s so versatile!

Hailey Bieber was so right about the first one! Going to France? Add these 4 underrated products to your shopping list! These are some of my fave under-hyped products.

We all know about cicaplast, but how many of us are using cicalfate? It’s a great alternative for those who didn’t find cicaplast worked for their skin.

The Vichy antiperspirant is incredible, say goodbye to odour due to sweat! Apply it at night for best results.

The hand cream smells lovely and works like a charm! I love the value packs with the lip balm.

The SVR cleaning balm is my fave oat cleansing balm - texture is lovely, removes makeup and sunscreen, and doesn’t irritate my skin. Highly recommend!

Unless you have a sunburn, or are getting skin treatments in office, you probably don’t NEED Biafine! But the skincare line is elite and soooo affordable. I highly recommend it.

For rosacea & redness: the SVR anti-redness cream is fantastic. I use it on my face, beck, and chest, and have seen a dramatic difference. It can feel “cooling” so keep that in mind! shocked me at first!

The Klorane baby shampoo smells SO good, subtle, elegant, and not overpowering. My son loves it! The bottle is huge too.

Did you get postpartum hair loss? Let’s talk 👇 It happens to the majority of us - here’s 6 important things I wish I knew about postpartum hairloss (and I’m sharing with you!)

1. Postpartum hair loss (telogen effluvium) is normal and often linked to a sudden drop in estrogen after birth. (source: AAD)

2. It’s often only TEMPORARY - yay! It can last up to 6 months postpartum, but the good news is, it won’t last forever. Everything I’ve read says you should regain your hair’s normal state by the time baby turns 1.

3. hair doesn’t always come out in “clumps”. I noticed loss of hair density slowly over time (I already have fine hair to begin with). For some people, it might be more dramatic.

4. try not to pull your hair into tight styles (like a high ponytail), I found that this made mine worse in the areas around my temples. (that’s where I notice the most loss). I also feel like I’m going to start getting traction alopecia if I don’t cool it with the tight buns.

5. be gentle with your hair during this time (Advice I wish i took myself), so that means avoid excessive heat from flat irons, and if you are using them, use a good heat protectant.

6. while there is no link to diet that I’m aware of, your body gives so much during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, so it’s important to try to replenish those nutrients as best you can. I struggled to get in anything in during the first 4 months and I’m not sure if that made it worse for me. Either way, a nutrient rich diet is always good and something I’m trying to be more conscious of now.

Treatments I am testing:

Red Light Therapy: I’m not sure if this would help “speed up” the hair regrowth phase, but the data for forms of hair loss are so promising, that it might be worth a try. I’m currently testing it and am on day 4, with 108 days to go. currentbody

Microneedling: I’ve always wanted to try this on my scalp, and will probably try it at the 1 year mark! I wouldn’t personally do this too soon, because hair is supposed to go back to its normal state anyway.

this is SUPER versatile and it’s only $10!

This is the TIA’M Centella Blending Powder, and when I first bought it, I wasn’t sure what to do with it. A centella powder that you MIX with other products? I was skeptical. It’s marketed as a powder that you can use on it’s own on spots, or mix with your other skincare products. So I tried it exactly like that!

My fave way to use it is mixed into my foundations/skin tints to help manage any irritation from my makeup (thanks to the centella), and cut down on some of the oiliness (works especially well in the summer).

I also like to use it on irritated skin spots mixed with snail mucin or hyaluronic acid, and find the centella and allantoin really soothing!

I think it’s a fun product that’s multifuntional and not talked about a lot online!

Would YOU pay €60 for THIS? this soak healed my eczema rash and my skin was soft for days - and this is just my personal experience, but I didn’t have a breakout for the rest of my 4 week trip!

I feel like whether you have skin conditions or not, anyone can enjoy this experience! I would reccomend going closer to sunset so you can look at the stars (if the sky is clear), and hear the crashing waves of the Atlantic while you relax.

Location: Wild Atlantic Seaweed Baths at Doolin Pier

How it works:
- you pay online for your time slot (I booked the same day, and booked for 60 mins. It cost me €60.00. But you can have two people share the same barrel)
- once you arrive, they walk you through everything and then you go to your barrel.
- Once inside, they add warm water so you can adjust your temperature.
- Once it’s at your temp, they add the seaweed.
- Then you soak for a hour!
- You can also go back and forth between the cold plunge barrel which is great to cool off.

Price
- €60.00 per 60 mins / 2 people can share a barrel

What you need to know:
- Come with your bathing suit on - there is nowhere to change!
- Bring extra towels
- I recommend not showering afterwards, to let the seaweed do it;s thing! I didn’t shower until I got back to Dublin 7+ hours later and my skin was sooo soft.

I plan to recreate this experience at home in my bath with seaweed to see if I notice a differnece!
