Bold, #festive and all things #fall
Isn't it wonderful how a simple change in bedding can add so much vitality to your space? It almost feels like a fresh start. Like a good haircut. And I'd very much like to step into the Ber months with love, warmth and vitality!

Switched out our summer beige with deep sage and muted oranges so I can feel all the fall colors inside my home.

🌼 You’ve never seen marigolds like this before 🌼

In India, we’re used to seeing marigolds as garlands, temple offerings, flowers floating in an urli or petals scattered in rangoli. Rarely do we ever see them standing tall in a vase — and that’s a pity, because their leafy stems are stunning. And they're so, so perfect for a #festive or #fall table.

I'm serious, forget garlands, marigold can be couture.

Here’s a trick: if you can’t find stemmed marigolds, just add a wooden skewer beneath the bloom. It acts as a stem and blends right into the arrangement.

Pairing suggestions: Pair them with button chrysanthemums, zinnias, and a few fresh white roses — all flowers you can easily find in the market. And without spending an arm and a leg.

And yes, a good pitcher/ vase is a must. Mines from freedomtreehome

Enjoy!

A #festive #tablescape in the brightest, boldest colors and patterns — and it’s giving me freedom. Oh hi freedomtreehome Soft girl summer, what? No. Make it full-of-life girl fall 🍁

I’ve always been a neutral girl — whites, beiges, soft linens, quiet palettes. That’s very me. Still me.

But today, I wanted a table that cheers you up like a good cocktail, not tea.

Bright pinks, golden yellows, lush greens — a tablescape that feels alive, almost breathing, brimming with vitality.

And honestly? It changed everything. The table doesn’t just look dressed; it feels joyful, like happiness bottled up and laid out in front of me.

For someone who once thought color was “too much,” I can safely say this: it was exactly enough. 💛

Painting is done and hung!

I used the same paint I used on my wall as the background for the vase: I was either going to do a buttery yellow or this warm greige and this won because chalk paint lends a beautiful organic texture. And yes the same paint can be used on paper, furniture, fabric and a wall :)

I also really want a glazed, ox-blood pottery/vase and I'm on the hunt for one. I saw a wonderful snippet on patriciarodi s story - a red vase against a buttery yellow fridge and I think it got stuck in my head. I must have a red vase now.

As for the medium: I used chalk paint as background, then textured with acrylic and then finally gouache.

And I think it looks dandy here.

Happy Sunday everyone. 2025-08-17 17:12:40 Painting is done and hung.. 186 +40% 37 -17%

Wall moulding minus nails or drill. Or ahem, carpenter bhaiya!
Go to your favourite wood and ply gallery and ask for pvc wall moulding. Mine is 22mm. And these are available everywhere.
Ask your wood gallery to cut it to size. I got these from woodgallery and they were incredibly kind to cut it to size. #notsponsored

#festive season is upon us and I have a great #diy for you! What if I told you, you could make these globally #trending flower pots at home? With air drying clay and a simple terracotta pot?

Clean your terracotta pot with a scrubber. Next roll out air drying clay to 1/8th of an inch thick. Cut scallops with an exacto or plain sharp knife. You could also print the stencil and then cut it. I did it freehand.

Let dry for 12 to 15 hours.

With a 150 grit sandpaper, sand them down and even out any uneven edges. For smoothness you can also use 220 grit after 150.

Next add orange chalk paint to white chalk paint and paint over. Once dry, drybrush (add paint without wetting the brush) more white chalk paint for distressing.

Dry for 24 hours and you're ready to flaunt!

Go ahead and try this and I assure you you'll love it. And share your diy with us at #trumatterDIY if you get to try 2025-08-04 17:18:22 #festive season is upon u.. 190 +43% 33 -26%

There are some dreams that live quietly in your heart for years, patiently waiting for their moment. For me, creating art prints has been one of them.

For as long as I can remember, I've had art prints around me and I've wanted to bring beautiful, country-style artwork to Indian homes, finding it so difficult to source pieces that truly spoke to that slow, soulful aesthetic I adore.

Life, as it often does, kept pulling me in a thousand directions, and this particular dream kept taking a back seat. But every quiet morning, every cup of coffee, every moment spent lost in drawing, the desire to share these little pieces of my heart only grew stronger.

And now, after much love, thought, and dedicated effort, that dream is finally here! ✨

I'm incredibly thrilled to announce that my original, hand-drawn art prints are now available on the Trumatter Living website!

Each print is a little piece of my world – celebrating the simple joys of a herb garden, the quiet comfort of coffee and tea, the sweetness of homemade jam, and the calm rhythm of nature. They're meticulously reproduced on high-quality 350 GSM paper to bring that authentic, tactile beauty right into your home.

This collection is for all of you who, like me, believe your home should tell a story; who cherish slow mornings, quiet moments, and the charm of things made with soul.

I cannot wait for these pieces to find their way into your cozy corners. And honestly, nothing would make me happier than to see them styled in your homes! Please, when you do, share your photos and tag me. It truly means the world.

They also make incredibly thoughtful gifts for anyone passionate about gardening, coffee, tea, or simply embracing a slower, more beautiful pace of life.

Head over to the link in bio to explore the collection and find your favourite piece of quiet joy.

With all my heart, Rukmini

I see a lot of details in kitchens. I see art prints. I see good utensils. I see them in everyday homes- like yours and mine. And this gives me joy.

That we are starting to romanticize our kitchens, giving it the love it truly deserve... So we can hang around the space a bit with our matcha, macher jhol and musings and not just treat it as a merely functional space.

I was thinking, this morning, about painting the cabinets a creamy yellow. And getting in some brass pulls. It's been 3 years with the light green and 3 years is too much ;) 2025-07-27 11:11:45 I see a lot of details in.. 95 -29% 20 -55%
Isn't it wonderful when it rains and you have no where to go? Have no plans so you can sit aram se and have a cup of chai? With no calls, no one to disturb and nothing to think of?

I have been hanging our art prints throughout the house and because no one was there, I turned a wall into a two-seat bistro style sit out and enjoyed the decor with a cup of Assam.

Fall coffee table styling, the slow and simple way 🍂🍁

Start with a grounding layer—books always first.

Next add texture: warm brown glass jars bring in autumn colors and deepen the palette.

Layer in candlelight at varying heights—soft glow below, tall flicker above. Perfect!

Something sculptural next. Stacked bowls. A single ceramic pumpkin. Rustic spoon set

And then, something alive—a fluted vase with a maple stem, tall and rust-red, to draw the eye up and let the season speak.

It doesn’t need to be perfect. Just intentional.
Just quietly, unmistakably, autumn.

Save this for when you want your table to feel like October ✨

It's never just the furniture. It's almost, always the light! If your room feels cold and not so inviting- this is for you.

There’s a certain softness a home can wear — not through paint or pillows, but through light. Mood lighting doesn’t shout. It hums. It wraps the room in something warm and quiet, like the last light before sleep.

To get there, think layers — not a single ceiling light, but pools of low, golden glow.

Where would you add layers of light?

A console that feels stark
A hallway that deserves romance
A kitchen counter for late-night tea
A bathroom shelf for soft, spa-like stillness
A bedroom wall lamp that doesn’t aim at your face
A reading lamp that also adds the coziest puddle of light.
Soft spots on photos
Over the cabinet highlighters
A chandelier over a low table/dining table

Also, while at it, choose bulbs that lean warm: 2700K or lower. Anything cooler feels like an office. You want light that flatters, softens, soothes.

And remember: you’re not lighting the whole room. You’re lighting moments in it. 2025-07-20 22:31:44 It's never .. 0 -100% 7 -84%
A very good pal of mine wrote to me the other day asking why my posts are missing from the gram. To be honest, I have a very good reason for it.

I (with Rohan) am building our business.

Mid last year we got registered as a Pvt Ltd company and since then we have grown 3 distinct branches - we do interior, products (fabric, candle, decor, art prints & kitchen and dining linen) and brand collabs - & since January I just couldn't find a rhythm. Half a year later, I am finally finding my pace! So Hurrah to that.

And for all the times I have been missing - yes I have 100000 DIY ideas that are waiting to be fulfilled- I crooned behind the screen and finished the art prints that'll be available on our website- right on time for the festive season. Some of them will also be tea towels.

I promise though, I'll be more regular here. And wake the blog up from its annual hibernation.

Thank God for friends like these who remind you to motor through. And most importantly, think of you. I must be very lucky! 2025-07-18 19:54:02 A very good pal of mine w.. 0 -100% 22 -51%
Thekua (My Way or rather Sabiya's way)
A rustic cookie from Bihar, reimagined gently. Sabiya said this is how it's made in her village when it's distributed. Sometimes maida is substituted with atta but roughly this is what she does.

Ingredients
•	500 g all-purpose flour (maida)
•	500 g semolina (sooji/rava)
•	500 g sugar (fine or powdered)
•	4–5 tbsp refined oil (for mixing. She said ghee or 'refine' both work)
•	More oil, for deep frying
•	Water, as needed

Optional but wonderful
•	A whisper of fennel or cardamom
•	Grated coconut or chopped nuts
•	A pinch of salt to balance the sweetness

Method
1.	In a large bowl, mix maida, sooji, sugar, and any flavourings you like.
2.	Add oil and rub it in till the mixture feels sandy and clumps slightly in your fist.
3.	Slowly add water to bring it together into a stiff, smooth dough. Rest it for 15–20 minutes.
4.	Pinch off small balls, flatten them, and give them a gentle press with a fork or the back of a spoon.
5.	Heat oil for deep frying. Keep the flame medium.
6.	Fry in batches until deep golden, flipping gently—slow frying brings the perfect crunch. 2025-07-17 21:08:17 T.. 55 -59% 14 -69%
