- ‘Smiling doesn’t mean everything is alright.’ I Dealt with a mini mental-health crisis in April. In March, we hit our biggest business month for the year, 8 figures, without ‘pushing hard’. Relationship was perfect and hadn’t had a fight in months. Health wise, had reached my goal weight and had lost all the marriage weight gain. Perfect Month and Everything was perfect on paper. But In April, I felt lost. Most days, I woke up feeling low and a little erratic despite my Whoop score being ‘perfect’. Didn’t work for 15 days straight and this has happened for the first time in the last 9 years of doing business [was just making sure all clients and team were happy and aligned]. Didn’t feel like following my morning routine, meditation or even walks. The same thing spiralled for the whole month. Around end of April, I realised something is wrong and started recalibrating and getting back to work. The interesting part? I myself didn’t know something was wrong. Now, today on the 2nd of June when I look back, I think, It wasn’t a good phase at all. Was I depressed? Maybe I was. The surprising part? I was smiling on all days in April, attended a few weddings and was proud of the fact that businesses Had hit a big number, clients were happy without doing anything extraordinary, everything was good on paper. Still from inside I felt hollow. Aligned myself from the end of April and got back into the happiness mode in May. But this was me feeling it, when everything was perfect. Now, I think: What if my health was not on track and I was obese like old times? What if my relationship was going through a crisis? What if my work wasn’t going right? Biggest lessons I learnt in the last month? -If this can happen to someone like me, who had ‘everything aligned’, This can happen with anyone. -If you are feeling low, don’t let it spill over to other areas of life, So that you are able to bounce back effortlessly. -If you are feeling low, you are not alone. Everyone has these phases but People rarely share them, I rarely share them. -If someone is smiling, that doesn’t mean everything is alright. So, Check on your loved ones regularly. -YVS
