I’ve gone for elenemigowines Semillon, a bit punchy at £16.50 with a tesco club card but a really special wine that might make your guests lose their minds …. or bottom halves
Semillon’s best known for making whites wines from Bordeaux …. esp the sweet wines of Sauternes. They also do wonderful things with it in the Hunter Valley 🇦🇺 making exceptionally long lived, energetic and complex dry white wines. And here we’ve got a bit of a 🍑 from 🇦🇷]()

Recommending Saint Veran ‘Reserve’ by Collovray et Terrier. Any vintage you can buy. I’ve imported it every year for the last 15 yrs and it’s a bang💥er every time.

This time it’s a beautiful Albariño from mardefrades which tastes about as tidy as it looks. All stone fruit 🍑 , citrus 🍋🟩, a hint of salt 🧂 and a sprinkling of wild flowers 🌺. Pretty jolly good actually and it turns a few heads.

Yes, that’s 78 years old by my maths and it stands up a treat when stood alongside the 7 year old grandchild.
