40,000 followers! Thank you to everyone who follows along and shares my love for quick trips and weekend adventures. But mostly thank you to my friends who went to the extra effort to find a ‘K’ balloon otherwise everyone would just think it was my 40th birthday 😂😂 (their words!) I love them so much for being my biggest cheerleaders and for helping me find my clarity and mojo for Instagram this year. Not only did I reach 40,000 followers this week but today also marks my 12 year anniversary of doing this full time! Steal this itinerary for a long weekend in Valencia 👇 🏠Stay at flatsfriends Soho Suites Our apartment slept 7 and was lovely, clean and spacious in a great location at a reasonable price. DAY ONE Head to Valencia Central Market to pick-up breakfast and browse the stalls (closed on Sundays) 🚶‍♀️Walk around the Old Town and check out Plaza de la Virgin and Valencia Cathedral. Climb the tower in the cathedral for views across the whole city. 🚲Head to Brisa Valencia to hire bikes. We hired ours for 48 hours and we loved them. The shop is perfectly located near Turia Park so you can get your confidence riding the bike. 🏞Cycle through Turia Park to the beach. 🍹Have drinks and lunch at one of the many beachside restaurants. Visit the City of Arts and Sciences ciudadartesciencias We didn’t go inside but it’s incredible even from the outside. 🍷Go to Colon Market for dinner and drinks. There are loads of restaurants and bars to choose from. DAY TWO ☕️Pop into a bakery for a quick coffee and croissants for breakfast. 👙Spend the day at marinabeachclubvalencia. Pre-book online and get there at 11am to get a good space! 🍕Have dinner and drinks at one of the beach front bars. We had drinks at boabeachvalencia and then headed next door for takeaway pizzas on the beach. 🌇Leave before it gets dark if you’ll be cycling back into the city through the park. 🍸Go to blanqhotels rooftop bar for a drink on the way home. BOOKING: We booked through expedia as it was cheaper than booking separately FLIGHTS: We flew to Majorca from Manchester with easyJet, leaving on a Thursday evening flight and flew back Sunday evening. AREA: Cala d’Or HOTEL: hotelcalador (loved this hotel - they even brought frozen towels and fresh fruit kebabs to your sunloungers!) TRANSFERS: I booked our airport transfers through arrivehappy LUNCH: cala.petita and hotelcalador DINNER: cantrompe.restaurante and aquariuscalador (book in advance) DRINKS: sky_cocktailbar and there are lots of other nice bars around Cala d’Or. The marina area is a bit fancier but I preferred the vibe in the centre of the village. People ask me for my ‘hack’ to find cheap holidays all the time and they don’t like my reply… The reason most people can’t find cheap holidays is simply because they don’t look often enough. If you’re looking at flights and hotels all the time you’ll: ✈️ Become familiar with how much things normally cost ✈️ You’ll know when you’ve actually found a real bargain ✈️ You’ll know when a sale is genuine and see if they hiked the prices up yesterday just to bring them down in the ‘sale’ today ✈️You’ll get lucky and occasionally come across an absolute bargain! Whether it’s because an airline can’t fill a flight or a hotel has had a last-minute cancellation, there are bargains to be had. But you’re not going to find the bargains if you spend all your time scrolling Instagram and no time scrolling Skyscanner! In this clip above I was in Lanzarote and I paid £45 for return flights. How did I find them? Simply because I look for flights to Lanzarote ALL the time! I know they’re normally about £150 so when I found them for £45 I snapped them up immediately! (Based on a survey of 2,000 UK adults conducted by Opinium between 17th–20th June 2025.) 🏨 1. Booking poor accommodation (29%) We all have hotel horror stories after being catfished by dreamy, wide angle photos! Tip: Don’t book ANYTHING until you’ve done the full online stalk. Google Street View is your friend! Zoom right in, get up close and personal and stalk that hotel like it’s your next Tinder date. 📲 2.Forgetting to check data roaming allowance (12%) This has caught me out recently and you either get stuck with no data or a massive bill. Navigating the streets of Rome in 35 degrees heat to find my hotel without Google Maps was not fun! Tip: I now use giffgaff where you get 5GB of inclusive roaming in the EU and selected destinations at no extra cost, so I don’t need to panic about roaming. 🧥 3. Leaving a key item of clothing at home (21%) I left my coat at home during a spring trip to Amsterdam and I was frozen! Tip: Use Google Keep to create a packing list and use it for each holiday. 🧳4. Packing a suitcase that was too heavy (19%) Paying extra for your overweight suitcase is the worst, especially because you didn’t even wear half the things in your case. Tip: If you’re a chronic overpacker, use a smaller bag! If something doesn’t fit then you can’t take it. Simple as that. 🎧 5. Forgetting to download entertainment (16%) I did this recently! I had no wifi, no signal and nothing downloaded to watch on the plane. And we were delayed for 2 hours! It was a long journey! Tip: Don’t leave home without downloading an entire binge-worthy series and fill your Kindle with books. Take a portable charger too. ⏰6. Arriving late to the airport (16%) It’s usually due to traffic jams but there is nothing worse than sitting in the queue knowing your plane is leaving in minutes! These were the costs for a weekend break to Albania at the start of July. ✈️ Flights to Corfu- £105.95 ⛴️ Ferry from Corfu to Albania - £50 🏨 Accommodation - £432.08 (£216.04pp) 🚤 6-hour boat trip - £36.54 🚕 Taxis - £100 (£50pp) ⛱️ Sunbeds (2 beds and umbrella) - £10 (£5 pp) 🍺 £3-£5 for a beer 🍹 £4-£8 for a cocktail 🥘 <£10 for a meal 🍴 <£40 for a 2-course meal at a very fancy restaurant with wine The truth is that it can be very cheap! But if you want 5* hotels, cocktails, sushi platters, private taxis and the fancy sun loungers….well no, it’s not THAT much cheaper than a regular European destination. A couple of things to know: • Ferries are much cheaper if you book last minute. I paid way too much for mine. Book them a day or two before. • This was peak season. Hotels can be half the price in September. • You’ll need cash. Take some euros with you and get Albanian Lek out at a cash machine when you arrive.
