I know we all feel it.. The weight of the world as we try to create a great world for our babies. Wondering how we got here, or maybe it’s always been here. We just weren’t as aware as we are now. As I sit here and look at my home, my kids, my husband, and myself.. I can’t help but feel this overwhelming burden that something is not right. This is not how it was meant to be. And, I’m not here to debate, I’m just here. Here to be a good mom. Here to pray for the broken. Here to weep with the burdened. Here to say “This isn’t how it’s supposed to be. But I won’t give up on making sure I raise my kids to see the good and be the good.” Because at the end of the day, we will all stand face to face, alone, with Jesus.. I just pray I can look in the mirror everyday untill that day, and see someone that does her best to honor God. To love my neighbor. While we have a lot of rules, we aren’t super strict on many things.. but here’s a few of the ones we try to make sure the kids know are serious: 1. No YouTube: It’s not worth the risk of what they could possibly be exposed to. If they want to look up a DIY video or learn how to draw, they have to ask and be right next to us. I make sure to check the history so if something bad was watched, I can immediately talk to them about it. 2. You sit down to eat (unless you’re outside): Even if it’s a small snack, sweeping around our home is never ending. So if you want to eat, you sit your butt down or go outside with it 🤣 Also, it’s just a good habit to learn. 3. No technology without chores: Technology is a privilege. If the house is messy, you’re not playing. And if you want to play, you have to find something to contribute to this home/family before you can take the time to do things that are a luxury ☺️ 4. No dark sodas/“sugar free”: Basically only sprite or sparkling water for the kids. 🤷🏼‍♀️ as far as “sugar free” goes, I would rather the kids eat pure cane sugar or other real sweeteners, then eat proven cancer causing chemicals that are in everything labeled “sugar free.” They typically know to not trust any of the labels that claim to be healthy. Unfortunately they aren’t. 5. No lying: We stress the truth. Even when you messed up, we’d rather you tell us the truth so we can help you, or be there to fix and help you learn a lesson, than to lie about it. 6. Ask before leaving the house: Our kids spend so much time outside, it’s a huge thing for us that they realize if we don’t know they walked out the door and something happens, a lot of time can pass when there might be an emergency. When we know they are outside, we know to check on them. (littles can’t go outside without a grownup) 7. Second chances: We discipline and we have consequences. But we never want the kids to live in shame, and one bad day doesn’t mean you’re a bad kid. There was something beyond special about getting to deliver my own baby. No doctors or nurses, no lights, or busy people. No one interrupting a moment that should be the most special moments for families as they bring life into the world. The pain was there, but the joy and peace that followed in those minutes we got to spend alone with our sweet girl was more rewarding then anything I could have asked for. I honestly think that God allowed me to deliver safely in the car, instead of making it to the hospital, because He knew that my desire for a birth that was without interruption and full of hormones between baby and I, that desire was so deep. And something that the hospital just couldn’t provide for me. People are shocked and often apologize that I didn’t make it to the hospital. They don’t understand that I just experienced something unrivaled to anything I could have imagined. I witnessed my body take over and a baby be born into my hands. My body is not swollen, and I have no tears. I had my husband and children around me, and for 5 minutes, we embraced everything that happened without any interruption. Our family has preferred a unique chaos It was crazy. We don’t let the little ones sleep in the big boys beds, but baby sister just had to fall asleep next to her champ champ this night 🥹🥺 even with her feet half way on the ground. This season of parenting has been so challenging with all the different ages and emotions showing up.
