It’s time guys!! Day 1 of Hiking Mount Kilimanjaro 🏔️ I cannot begin to describe the emotional and physical rollercoaster that I have been on these past 6 months. I started off so strong with training in January at the start of the year at the same time as going sober and changing what I ate. Mid April I got diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis and a sprain to the medial collateral ligament of my left knee. This has resulted in 10 weeks of intense physiotherapy, dry needling and sports massage, taping, wearing a knee bracing, using my foam roller and visiting the Dead Sea pool at my local spa. I have had such highs on long day hikes and such lows where I thought I was going to have to pull out and defer the hike until later in the year. However, I have worked tirelessly to get here and I am so incredibly excited. I want to say a massive massive thank you to my family for believing in me, helping me pack and organise my life. Thank you to Meg, Nina and Rosie rosiesillett_sportsmassage for the amazing rehab! Thank you to of my friends, work colleagues and family for your kind donations to maggiescentres As donations have been coming in I have been crying at the kindness and generosity of everyone, it really does mean the world. When I arrived in Kilimanjaro my main duffel bag had ripped in transit which meant I had to get a new bag last night 🎒 but everything has come together and I write this message on route to the mountain (crying again!) lol. I am doing this hike in memory of my Aunty Di, my godmother 🩷🩷 I wish she was here with me in person but know she is here in my heart. Please keep donating guys, let’s get to £3,000!!! BIG NEWS - On 12th June 2025, I am setting off to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with gadventures This is a massive bucket list challenge of mine and something I have always dreamt of doing. I will be hiking in memory of my Aunty Di, who we devastatingly lost to cancer in 2023. 🌈 I will be arriving in Kilimanjaro on 13th June and will meet my group on 14th June, starting the hike on 15th June 2025 and summiting Kilimanjaro on 19th June 2025, something which is likely to take 15 hours. The peak of Kilimanjaro is at an elevation of 5,895m and temperatures can reach -25 degrees. This is hands down one of the most challenging things I have ever done, both mentally and physically. I will return to base on 21st June 2025. I have been completely sober since January, completely changed my eating habits, upped my gym sessions joined explrers.club 🙌🏼 and dedicated my weekends to hiking! I am fundraising for Maggies Centre, a specialist cancer charity which offers psychological support to those going through cancer treatment, and their families. The charity offers advice on nutrition, cancer symptoms, exercise and relaxation therapies. As well as space and guidance for loved ones to come to terms with the trauma. They supported both my Aunt and Uncle, and were an incredible strength - from offering space to just sit quietly to connecting with others going through the same thing. I would be super grateful if you guys could please support me in this massive challenge, whether that is sending playlist recommendations for working out, sharing nutritious recipes for me cook, sending words of encouragement or donating pennies to my justgiving page! I am excited to share that hafizmustafa1864 has officially opened its doors in Knightsbridge, directly opposite Harrods. I tried the Pistachio Baklava Cake which I highly recommend. Full of flavour, soft, moist and spongey but definitely a portion for two people. (£9.50) I also sampled the bakclava (£11.00) for 4 pieces. Is the Viral Halal Steakhouse swissbutter worth the hype? 100% YES!! I opted for the Ribeye steak (£19.00) which came smothered in the Swiss Butter Secret Sauce complete with a large portion of french fries, mesclun salad, chilli flakes and baguette. Tips and tricks when you are flying from ldnlutonairport 1. Arrive at least 2.5 hours before your flight.
